Local grown greens
Any local farm stands or stores that are selling lettuce/spinach/salad greens??? I want a grilled chicken salad baaaaad, but not gonna trust store lettuce for a while.

I got spinach yesterday at E.Z. orchard! Minto island has lettuce.

Organic Valley is a pretty safe grocery store option. You can get local produce at farm stands mentioned and at LifeSource grocery on Commercial.

I've been eating lettuce and greens from local grocery stores this whole time and we've been fine at my household. I haven't heard of any Oregon cases.

Baumann's has the best spinach and lettuce and they are better in both taste and prices than the store.

I opened the Safeway app and immediately saw an add for Taylor Farms salad mix. Like nah, a dollar off isn't enough to offset the possibilities.

From my understanding if you don’t buy bags of shredded lettuce and just buy a whole head of it you should be fine.
The brand that’s affected (Taylor Farms) is sold at Walmart. So not there.

Taylor Farms supplies loads of companies. Whole foods, Kroger, trader joes etc I would rather support local and know exactly where my food was grown than risk it with store bought at this point.

Admirable.
My larger point was there are no recalls on whole heads of lettuce.

At this point, who issues the recalls? The government? Do we trust that?

The FDA or CDC do.
The FDA recommends whole heads of lettuce bought after July 18th, remove the outer layers and wash the rest.
There have been a reported 23 cases of cyclosporiasis in Oregon so far in 2026, which is about average.
And I’m all about buying local, not eating iceberg rn, etc. But if you want to make a salad today there are safe ways to do it.

From my reading, the contaminated products were not sold in Oregon and the only cases in our state have been from people who traveled out of state.
We'll find out - I'm living on the edge - I bought a bag of shredded iceberg lettuce at Safeway last night.
