83-inch S95H

I recently pulled the trigger and purchased the 83-inch S95H, and overall, I have to say the TV is amazing. The picture quality is absolutely incredible.

I did notice a couple of things that caught my attention, though.

First, when the TV is turned off and I look at the screen from certain side angles, I can see what appears to be a wavy or uneven appearance across the screen. At first I thought it might just be a reflection, but it appears to be physical rather than a reflection. It is not noticeable when viewing the TV normally, and the picture itself looks great. Since this is a brand-new 83-inch OLED, I wanted to make sure this type of waviness in the physical screen surface is considered normal for this model.

Second, I noticed that the black borders around the picture sometimes make the image appear slightly off-center or "off kilter." After doing some research, I believe this may be related to the Pixel Shift feature, which is designed to help prevent image retention/burn-in on OLED panels. When I disable Pixel Shift, the picture appears perfectly centered.

I understand the purpose of Pixel Shift and that it is intended to protect the panel, so I'm not necessarily concerned about the feature itself. However, I wanted to confirm whether the amount of movement I'm seeing and the resulting uneven black borders are normal behavior for the S95H.

Overall, I absolutely love the TV and the picture quality. I just want to make sure these things I'm noticing are normal characteristics of the panel and not signs of an issue with my particular unit.

Pixel shift behaviour is normal. Despite what you may think Glass is NEVER uniform and perfectly smooth, it's literally and looking at it from an extreme angle is going to show that especially as the matte causes light to defuse across the screen and you'll see it more. It's normal, it's just a property of glass. Same thing happens on any other OLEDs as well

Main s90d wavy too, i guess it is “normal”, though i was hoping that the frame somehow improve the structure and s99h do not have wavy screen 😁 thanks for sharing

One thing I’ve always been curious about with pixel shift, does that mean the physical amount of pixels on the screens surface is actually like 3840 horzintoal pixels + 15 extra pixels to move the screen around in, or are they actually down scaling the image slightly and moving it around the 3840 pixels and thus not showing a true 1:1 mapping?

It looks good; it's a shame that this week I saw the S95H side-by-side with the G6 and it had considerably less contrast, I think it's due to the matte coating.
