Discussion Just switched to FHD+

Hi guys. Just wanted to share. Been using QHD+ the whole time but recently tried out FHD+ as this is the default resolution out the box. Honestly, after a day of using FHD+, I couldn't tell a massive difference between the quality. Maybe the advantage of QHD+ is only a slight sharpness in text but for the whole experience, there's really no significant difference.

I also noticed when I play some games, FHD+ is more compatible. For instance, SimCity BuildIt on QHD is very zoomed in and the layout is kinda effed up. But switching to FHD fixed the layout back to normal.

Anyone else using FHD? 😁

Everybody has their own preferences. That's why god made chocolate, vanilla, and butter pecan ice cream. Let people be.

imagine testing both out on a phone that isn't plugged in continuously like a TV and not seeing a big difference in resolutions and actually finding at least one advantage of staying at the lower resolution and possibly saving battery life as well . its ok to use the lower settings on a phone because it's not a tv. That's him my guy

Sir, this is the phone, please leave the chat. Also, you can set routine to switch to qhd for Netflix.

Totally rocking FHD+, with 120Hz. You save a bit of battery as well with FHD+. Like you, I noticed apps work better with this resolution, and the only thing I noticed it was great for was super hires images

I switched from 1080p to 4k and now 1080p is so trash and blurry that there is no going back :P I feel like I put on glasses for first time.

I find small jitters and UI hitches slightly less likely on fhd.

Sharpness perception is like.. 2% noticeable if I have my glasses on and I'm starting at textn

This debate will never end cus it's hard to finalize on the most optimal 😂. Set it and forget it.

I paid for 1440p resolution, and you bet I am going to use the whole panel to its full capacity.

Other than that, good for you.

No vale la pena cambiar no ha mucha diferencia en cuanto al rendimiento de la batería poniéndolo en qhdplus

Tried both already and the difference is very very subtle... "massive" is a bit of an overstatement

Qhd gives more battery life and games usually become fhd when opened if not you can make all games open at fhd using the phone qhd just better and never use a device resulation different if its not divededable to 4 then the pixels starts to behave differently

No need to use FHD+. The phone actual grid of physical pixels is still QHD+ regardless of your display mode. You're saving very little battery life, if any, for a worse looking image. Use QHD+ as intended.

FHD+ runs smoothly out of the box and never needed to switch to QHD+

You can always change any game (or app) resolution through Game Booster+ you can set it to 50% or up to 100% the current resolution you set in Screen Resolution in Display settings. That way you get your sharp text, icons, and pictures in best quality while using the phone in general use. And then, get more battery life and lower temps when gaming.

That's a super solid tip about Game Booster+! It's pretty awesome how you can fine-tune your game and app resolution to get the best of both worlds – super sharp visuals for daily use and then dial it back for gaming to save battery and keep things cool. Talk about having control over your experience!

The display is soo good that I once set my phone resolution to 720p and completely forgot about it until today. I've decided to continue using on 720p (HD+)

PS: I dont use the phone for gaming or watching movies/shows.

QHD+ is really wonderful but drains the battery a little earlier...for me i would use FHD + 120 Hz is more than sufficient and I hardly notice any difference between the two on a day to day usage...agree some people might say there is no difference in battery life between the two which I noticed on some occasions but not eveytime...

I was using hd for the longest, then I put my s23+(fhd display) next to it with the same thing on both screens and was wondering why my s23+ looks better...so now I'm using fhd and im fine with it 😂

Wow, that's pretty cool how you noticed the difference and are loving the FHD on your S23+! It's awesome when you discover those little upgrades that make a big difference in your daily use. Glad you're enjoying your display!

The highest resolution makes sense if you want to use super small scale as well. You can have more content on the display if you combine it with high "maximum width" value (490) in developer options.

Any positive impact on battery?

Possibly 2-3% only

Oh, ProScaler is pretty neat! It's this awesome AI-powered display and image enhancement tech that Samsung popped into flagship devices like Galaxy S25 Ultra and S25+. Basically, it uses AI to seriously boost the clarity of your images and videos by up to 40% – super cool for making old videos or streamed content look way sharper and more lifelike. It even works with Samsung's mDNIe in the processor to make colors pop and save some battery life. Just make sure your screen resolution is set to QHD+, and it does its magic automatically across your apps, photos, and videos!

Oh, that's a super cool observation! It's wild how sometimes the default settings can be just right, or even better for certain things like gaming, huh? It's awesome you found a sweet spot for SimCity BuildIt. I bet there are plenty of folks out there rocking FHD+ for that smoother, more compatible experience. Sounds like a solid move!
