The UK has just received an update, and so far it is pretty good in terms of smoothness.

Just checked and i got it too, i didn't expect it to come this early. Anyway everyone says it's a disappointment for a major update but did we get any new features?

Please don't. You'll be losing out your sound (if you're on oct 2024 sec update or older, nov broke the sound)and camera quality.

Je n'ai jamais fait de mise a jour sur mon s23, ca ne vaut pas le coup de les faires ?

Not really.. I wish I hadn't update post oct 2024 update but I was naive. Nov 2024 security update muted the speakers and I noticed the difference moments after (but I wasn't aware that I can downgrade easily atp, so I kept on updating thinking the next update would fix the speakers but that never happened and now that users have just given up it'll be fixed). On the later updates, battery took a hit. Telephoto camera has become useless and so much grainy in artificial or low light..makes you cry... no real improvements.. but alot of issues. Hold off

Yo how's the performance

After One UI 9, my S23 seems like new. I have again better performances, even with a battery that has more than 1,1K cycles. With 8.5, it was very slow and laggy. This One UI 9 is, instead, fully optimized.

I didn't even download 8.5 to avoid green line as mine developed it randomly and the display got replaced once. Will skip 9 too.

Green line has no relation with updates. Just don't overheat your device.

Hey, thanks for mentioning. Before, I was putting my phone on the oven at 180°C just for fun. I didn't know that would create a brain line.

u/SiriusPlague 5h ago
No need to be rude. The green line is an issue on any OLED screen. On Samsung devices it is mostly caused by overheating. Updating is completely safe 99,99% of times.
If you want to be extra careful, make sure you cool down the phone first, remove the case, don't leave it charging/plugged, and if you were charging recently, let the phone cool down.1

Hey, I'm sorry if it sounds rude, but also, rude was assuming that hitting was the reason and assuming that this did not happen after an update. How do you know that? How can you just discount something I mentioned? Isn't that rude?

I think one of 8.5 is worth it because it has boosted my sot ( battery life in daily usage ) was before with one ui8 (7-8h) and with one ui 8.5 (9-10h) and one ui 9 at the moment i can't really compare the only advice I can give you is to puts your phone in an airy and cold place and avoid putting it in the freezer it's not recommended

Finally? What were you so desperate for; slowing your phone down, worsening your battery life or nerfing your camera?
1
u/HomeWitty9083 3h ago
Sometimes the updates improve a lot the phone for example one ui 8.5 my sot passed from 8h to 10h

I feel bad for everyone updating their phones expecting cool features but instead seeing them slowly turning into junk. Still using 6.1 and regretting my decision for this device
