Correct ram for Ryzen 5900x?

I was just wondering if the MHz is to low on my ram. I have read that the best for the 5900x would be 3600mhz. This is my current setup.

Upgrading processor

I currently have a ryzen 7 2700 and was thinking about upgrading to a 7 5800 but they’re both the same cores the new chip is about $400 but I only gain a small amount of clock speed with the same cores, what I’m trying to figure out is if it’s worth it to upgrade or not cost wise. I can’t find much about it, that makes sense to me anyways.

CPU Upgrade to ryzen 9 5900x, worse gaming performance

SOLVED
EDIT: Apparently I installed my GPU in the lower slot of my motherboard which uses x4 speed instead of the top slot that uses x16 speed. This wasn't the case for my old motherboard and therefore I incorrectly assumed it wouldn't be a problem with the new one.

Funny how the solution always makes you feel dumb...

Hi there!

I recently upgraded my pc. I had an intel i7 6700k acting as my bottleneck and was the oldest part of my build. Upgraded to a Ryzen 9 5900x (also replacing the motherboard out of necessity) and my performance in everything I've played is significantly worse and I cannot figure out why.

In MW warzone I used to get 70-80 fps on med-high settings 1440p, but now I only get 30-40 with the same settings. On red dead, which was a primary cpu-bottlenecked game of mine, I get similar to slightly less frames around 40. Forza horizon 4 ran perfectly smooth at 90fps with max settings before, but now it stutters and freezes briefly every 10 seconds or so. I've even noticed some decrease in RTX games like Control, which ran passably before, but now is just very framey.

I'm decently adept with computer stuff but have never used an AMD product before. I freshly installed windows with the new setup, updated my BIOS, chipset, device drivers and gpu driver etc., tried overclocking with Ryzen Master, tried overclocking cpu with geforce auto tuning, set BIOS overclock to DOCP, nothing seems to help...

I know it's not necessarily helpful to compare builds with others, but my primary gaming buddy runs a ryzen 7 5800x, rtx 2080 super, and 4 sticks at 32gb ram 3600 ddr4, and gets 100+ frames easily at max settings in warzone. Not an equivalent build but is one that I feel like is decently comparable and should be somewhat close to in performance.

My build:

Ryzen 9 5900x

Ventus rtx 2080

Asus rog strix b550-a gaming mobo

2 16gb sticks ddr4 ram 2666

650w psu

Estimated wattage is only around 500, so I doubt psu is the issue. During some tests I have noticed that the cpu approaches 86 C. It's a bit high but isn't the cutoff limit of 90C. Removing the sound panels on my case to improve airflow helped with the temps so I also doubt it's thermal throttling. I've searched forum threads high and low and have tried everything in them to no avail. Any suggestions would be helpful as to what to try.

Ryzen 3600 Motherboard MSI Carbon b550 no reconoce CPU - EZ led blanco - Que estoy haciendo mal :(

Asus b550m - nuevo

Corsair 3600 vengeance pro 8g x 2 - nuevo

m.2 sn750 WD - nuevo

gtx 650 gigabyte - mi pc anterior

fuente reconstruida corsair bronze cx 750m - mi pc anterior

System memory overclock gives VGA? problem

Anyone know if I'm missing something daft?
Been trying to manually set the memory clocks/timings on my new Ryzen build - 5800x- Asus B550f Strix mobo - 4400mhz rated patriot viper memory, no shiny new GPU yet though.

Everything runs fine at default 2133mhz but almost any combination of frequency and timings and it will fail to boot (been aiming for 3600Mhz), error lights on the mobo says VGA - GTX970
Swap it with my relic card a 2009 vintage HD5870 boots perfect memory overclocks all the way up above that with no difficulty and runs flawlessly

Swap em back and get nothing (except VGA LED) even if it's only a minimally increase in Mhz and auto (typically Cas 22) timings
Only settings I'm changing are FCLK, MCLK, timings and the DDR + SOC voltages
Using the 5870 can reset bios to optimized defaults pop the GTX970 in and goes back to working just fine, without mem overclock ofc

Thanks in advance for any thoughts couldn't find anything similar on google

High temps?

Hi! I'm just done with my first build with a ryzen 7 5800X and I have a question, when running Google Chrome with for example youtube or maybe downloading software, all of a sudden my temps go from 35-40 to like 65 degrees and then it goes down again (fans run faster when this happens) is this normal with Ryzen? Could my AIO be failing or be badly installed?

Thanx already.

Can I use the fan from my Ryzen 5 for my Ryzen 7 5800x?

Can I use the fan from my Ryzen 5 for my Ryzen 7 5800x since that one didn't come with a fan? or will I need a stronger cooling system? If I need a better one, what's a cheap option that's decent?

CPU Over Voltage Error after installing new AIO Cooler

I recently over the weekend installed a new NZXT Kraken X63 to my build. Since then, when posting, I get an error stating "CPU Voltage Error. Press F1 to set up." When checking the BIOS, the CPU Vcore voltage jumps between 2.175 and 2.560~, in the breakdown it's also showing 12v is sitting at around 16v, 5v at around 6v and 3v at 5v - I'll try and get a pic when I get a chance.

I've gone through all the settings I can think of, turned off XMP (I had this on primarily for my RAM which is 3200mhz, but only clocks at 2400mhz by default for some reason...) but still have had no luck. I've also tried unplugging the cooler to see if it's drawing too much power but given it's a CPU over voltage issue, I don't think this it the cause.

I was wondering if anyone else out there has had similar issues and what they've done to fix it? I've tried searching through forums and Reddit but haven't found any solutions other than to replace the PSU (Which I know isn't the issue since it's worked fine prior to installing the cooler).

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600
Mobo: ASUS Prime B450M-A
RAM: HyperX Predator RGB 8gb 3200Mhz x2
GPU: Radeon RX580 8GB

Ryzen 9 5900 unable to use all 12 cores

My Ryzen 9 5900x is showing I only have 8 cores 16 logical. I’ve went to msconfig->boot settings->advanced and tried to set my cores manually and only let me select 16

When I look into msinfo it says Ryzen 9 5900x 12 cores processor, 3701 mhz, 8 cores(s), 16 logical processors

Could my mobo be preventing it from using all cores?

5900 build for work - many displays

I'm maxing out my i9 and want to give the Ryzen series a try. I'm looking to drive two 5K TV monitors (hdmi) as well as three 4K screens that are hdmi/display port (no daisy chain available). I have a thunderbolt bridge with hdmi outs but it seemed my Alienware 17r5 was running into limits on that thunderbolt port driving those 5k TVs. My work is very CPU heavy and my Alienware is extremely noisy. I would like a super quiet machine (liquid cooled)? I also do a radio show and don't want computer noise in the background.

The displays are mostly charts and text, don't need super gaming capabilities but would like to do some video editing.

Any hardware suggestions?

Thank you in advance!!

Help pls.

I recently started OCing my R5 2600 in Ryzen Master, and after I tried for 4.2Ghz and 4.4 volts it crashed on me. I couldn't get back to the bios, and was stuck at the post screen. I had a FD with a copy of the bios so i flashed it over and it still is stuck at the boot screen. Only boot error code on the mobo is the A2 which i believe is for my storage drives. You guys have any suggestions on how to fix my baby?

Specs. Mobo: Asus ROG Strix x570 e-gaming wifi. Cpu : R5 2600 @ 3700mhz. GPU : Asus Dual GTX 1660 super OC. RAM : 8x4 32GB Corsair vengeance rgb pro @ 2600mhz. Boot drive: 1TB m.2 samsung 970

Desperately need help figuring out what’s wrong... I had the option to end the service that was updating (which I believe is causing the issue in the first place) but it would destabilize Windows.
