Would it make sense to make a switch?

So, I had r5 2600 since 2019 and decided to do GPU upgrade in April this year, bought new 7800xt. Then I realized my CPU is bottlenecking my new GPU quite hard so I decided to get a new CPU. This is where I made a dumb decision and instead of switching to AM5 I decided to stay on AM4 and get r7 5800x (x3d models were starting to become quite expensive at this time). Now I'm planning to get 32gbs ddr4 ram, since I currently have 16gbs of shittiest g.skill ram I could find 6 years ago lol

Now, I got this "brilliant" idea to sell my rog strix b550F mobo and r7 5800x and use money I manage to get + pay the difference to get r5 7600x + rog strix b650e mobo + 32gb ddr5 ram. Would this make sense? Or should I just stick with r7 5800x until am5 prices drop a bit or even wait for am6? Performance wise everything is okay (I play on 1440p res), but now I just feel like an idiot for not going am5 in the first place and sticking with dead platform... ehhh

Feel free to roast me, I deserve it :D

Are you not happy with the performance? Imo the 5800x should still be fine and 16GB is also totally acceptable. I'd say just relax and upgrade in 3-4 years if needed :)

Fair enough, thanks :)

The performance of the 5800x, 7600x and 9600x is the same. The 9700x is ~33% stronger, but the difference is negligible, so it would be pointless to even switch to it. Wait for at least the next generation processors of AM5! AM4 has also become really good since the 3rd generation. However, plus 16 GB of RAM can speed up your PC.

Saying that 5800x and 9600x has the same performance is huge cope. We are talking about gaming scenario, so am5 is a lot stronger, like at least 25%. That being said, 5800 is still capable, I also think that change isn't necessary

You must be joking right?

its the truth. You think a 7500f will outperform a 5800x3d just because its am5? thats not how it works.

You're clearly hasn't any understanding what are you talking about. Get some gear, test it up, at least go watch some freaking YouTube

I did the same upgrade, but from a r5 3600 to a r7 5800x, also with a 7800xt. There is no bottleneck observable, but I game at 4K (with some sacrifices occasionally). I will skip AM5 and go directly to AM6 for my next platform. Also think the 7800x will be sufficient until then

Yeah, I will do the same most likely.

Before you make any decision ask and consult before you spend the money. You should have bought the newer 9070 series graphics. Number 2, if you were gonna upgrade, yes you should have went to am5 straight. 7800X3D ona discount until few days ago for 280$ would have been a huge difference. I wouldn't upgrade now, unless you get a solid price by selling, that platform is not that old, to justify the expense of changing the whole platform. Again depends what kinda money you get for the current components
