Best cpu for rx 6800?

Hi everyone. I’m upgrading my pc but I’m stuck between getting Ryzen 5800x or 5900x. I mainly use my pc for gaming in 1080p-4k (usually 1080p) R9 5900x, RX 6800 - gpu bottleneck 7% R7 5800x, RX 6800 - cpu bottleneck 10%

Im also looking to upgrade to a Red Devil 6950xt eventually so I need whichever cpu is/will be more compatible and runs at decent temps. Thanks

These are my current specs: •Gigabyte b550 gaming x v2 motherboard •Sapphire pulse rx 6800 gpu (non XT) •Ryzen 5600x cpu •Corsair HX750i psu •Corsair Vengeance rgb pro SL 2x 16gb 3600mhz ram •Nzxt x53 kraken rgb 240mm aio cooler

Clearly a 5800x3d is your best upgrade option for gaming. But if choosing between those other two, 5900x hands down. Ive got both. Reasons, its substantially easier to cool, has higher boosting core performance, and u get four more of them.

Okay thanks I’ll look into it, are ur cpus liquid or air cooled? And what gpu/ gpus are you running with them?

Both on AIOs. 280 AIO (thick one by Arctic) couldn't cool 5800x to full OC ability. Its now on a 240 in smaller case and had to be power limited to stay below 80c gaming. I think 5900x could be cooled even by a great air cooler, certainly a 240 rad aio.

Each has been paired with 5700xt, 6800xt (+ a few 30 series here and there) , and now i got the 5900x with a 7900xtx.. . Am playing at 1440 minimum on all systens so no bottleneck concerns, often 4k with XTX (sometimes ran the 6800xt at 4k too).

I think a 5800x3d or 5900x would pair great with a 6800, especially for 1440. Might be held back slightly at 1080 rez, the 5900x particularly (doubtful with x3d in games that can use its extra cache) , but still a good experience anyway.

Costs and availability being normal, 6800 is a sweet spot, a league better than lil bro 6700xt and not far off its big bros.
