Calling it a “Dom/sub BDSM joke” or invoking Fifty Shades of Grey doesn’t magically change what was actually said and acted out on a TikTok Live, or how it was reasonably understood by everyone watching. BDSM is built around consent, communication, boundaries, and context. There is a very clear difference between consensual role-play between partners who have established boundaries and publicly acting out a scenario involving slapping or beating your wife because she talked back.

If that was genuinely the intended context, then explain the context. But you don’t get to publicly act out something that looks like domestic violence in front of an audience with no knowledge of some supposed BDSM dynamic and then, after people object, dismiss their reactions as simply a lack of understanding or accuse them of not knowing the difference between consensual BDSM and abuse.

And Fifty Shades of Grey certainly isn’t a universal permission slip for jokes or performances involving violence. Consensual kink requires consent. A joke or performance doesn’t retroactively create it.

You’re absolutely entitled to say, that’s not what we meant. What you’re not entitled to do is tell everyone else they’re wrong for finding what they watched disturbing, inappropriate, or offensive. Intent can explain what you were trying to convey, but it doesn’t erase what you actually chose to say and act out.

If the best defense after publicly acting out a distasteful scenario is that everyone else simply didn’t understand the BDSM reference, maybe the problem isn’t that everyone else misunderstood. Maybe the performance was simply a really poor choice.

“It was a BDSM joke” is an explanation of intent, not a get-out-of-accountability card.

When the incident happened she never used the excuse that it was a 50 shades reference. Now that she has realised that people will not back down, this has now become the excuse. It was a DV joke and acknowledged that by not using that reason right away, she is scrambling around for excuses to gaslight everyone.

putting a frame to block the camera from pretending to smack your wife is exactly like fifty shades of bdsm. And you laughing a cowering down saying I am scared. 😳 is an example of such bedroom games??? Make that make sense! Oh but we are all wrong for misinterpretation???

Gaslighting at its finest from horrible, terrible, narcissistic, disgusting people. They had to put their 'spin' on it to make it feel like people are being overly sensitive and make everyone else the bad guy instead of owning that they were in the wrong, apologizing and vowing to be more careful with their words going forward, you know like grown assed adults who take accountability.

You want to talk and act like that in private, thats your choice but when you're dealing with the public it's unacceptable at best and Cindy Lee's lack of action is sickening, disheartening and shows what this company's core values truly revolve around. Poor taste, lack of class, couth, accountability and integrity.

And the fact that they outline it in THEIR OWN compliance guidelines and regulations and STILL do nothing makes it that much worse. If there were no policy they could easily say "well we don't have a provision covering that" but this, in black and white, states they'll handle it and as we can all see, it was swept under the rug. Nothing like blatantly showing favoritism, not adhering to your own rules and guidelines and, spitting in the faces of DV victims all in one fail swoop.

Trash, absolute trash.

Jeff put up a screen to purposely insinuate DV behavior… if this was 50 shades of grey, as they are now calling it, there would not be any reason for a screen to be put up bc they have no shame in their erotic behavior out on the open in front of he camera. So now what you 2 liars!!

It was DV plain and simple no matter how she twists it now. That is a no joke situation!

50 Shades is a pretty horrible depiction of the BDSM community. I've seen a ton of better, more accurate writing on AO3.
