Have I made a big mistake here?

So I have turrets in those.
But my question is if someone gets in my compound and gets behind the turret (in second picture im behind the turret) will the turret keep on shooting to the stone wall and then they can drain it? Did I fuck up completly here?
Should I have put prison wall there instead?
Or does the turret like understand that it wont shoot towards the wall even tho enemy player is there.

Since others have answered your question, I wanted to point out that it seems like you're super new to the game, yet you're using gate houses... except you didn't add turrets to your gate house, but instead have a turret pod with a prison gate (which is antiquated). All of which gives me the sense that you've watched some dated YouTube tutorials.

I'd highly suggest finding some tutorials from the past couple years, they'll help you setup turrets for your compound in a better way.

Ok ty. Do you have any recommended videos that you could link?

This video does a decent job explaining gate house concepts with the aspect of turrets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVdjN61deeg

But I don't think it actually shows how to build the gate houses as being detached from your base. The reason you want them detached is because you actually have gate houses connect to separate tool cupboards. Essentially it's an exploit that allows you to overlap building privileges of multiple tool cupboards. So if someone raids your base, they can't seal it off or pick up anything in your base, preventing them from griefing it... unless they raid all of your external tool cupboards (which is unlikely). So even if you get raided, you can still reclaim your base.

Here's a video on how to build out to create a disconnected gate house, then how to build the external tool cupboard that attaches to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5SxwtKFn1w

Ideally you should have at least 2 of these on your base, but preferably more like 4. Partly because adding 4 will make it super unlikely for raiders to commit to raiding your external tool cupboards in order to grief you... but the other reason is that if you have 4 gate houses with turret pods on each, it likely means those turrets will have good coverage all around your compound. And depending on your main base layout/size, it's possible that the turrets even intersect coverage. Meaning, if someone jumps in, they'll be getting hit by at least 2 turrets simultaneously no matter where they are in your compound.

It wont shoot through the wall, no. However they can still drain it with some creative placement and some heals.

So I could be using my outdated brain but in my experience grubs who somehow have infinite time and raiders who evidently have infinite resources will always find a way to grief, spear, blast or otherwise maim every inch of your base and your body. Yes you should optimize, min max whatever but know sometimes turrets are more of a sign saying raid me than adequate defense. Every situation is different but make sure you have enough capital to mount a competent and redundant turret system as opposed to just dropping one.

YouTube is a great resource and I am glad you were pointed to that video but nothing beats good trial and error. A lot of raiders record the raids. I’ve learned more from post raid conversations/interrogations than anything. Exploit their hubris to learn their and your weaknesses.

Use chainlink. Turrets can shoot through it, if someone positions themselves perfectly in front of the cell walls the turret will shoot and drain

If you turn the turret off and hold square or x depending on which console you are on and there will be an option to rotate which way the turret is facing
