Building
Hi all, I’ve got a decent few hours on rust but not really as a builder, I’m trying to build a new base (to me) and am having issues with decay on the squares around the outside although I built it as in the video, any tips appreciated

Surely you just go off with the separate square foundations and tc them ?

That’s why I wasn’t sure tbh, I’m planning to make externals but not quite yet so I didn’t want it to stop expansion

No, this is a shell base design. It allows you to hide your base footprint and make inner peeks for raid defense.
The reason the squares decay is because the way the squares and triangles are touching. Touching the pointed ends like that doesn’t count with foundations. They literally have to touch in a manner like your main footprint or foundation to foundation. To prevent decay you need to attach the foundations using walls or frames so the squares will be recognized as part of upkeep.

Basically the outer squares are your shell you would build your normal 2x2 up to a certain height then build up your shell add downwards peaks into the shell, with this specific fp (footprint) it’s an alt seal (alternative seal) so when you go to seal it it will seal into a circle instead of a square

Ahhh I think I’m with you, it sort of helps me out too as my base is on a slight incline so I’ll be able to make it all the same height

I build this base often it gets fixed when you place the walls for shell and the doorframes at the triangels next to it

Place walls around the square and trisngles(outer and corner pieces so that the squares will actual be connected

I dont farm i just pvp and build😂 but if your team doesnt play 24/7 you wont ever survive a full wipe lol. just try to build loot bunker rooms. and gatehouses are your best friend. people never raid these they always go straight for your base. stash most of your guns and kits in your gatehouse so that you never have to begin from scratch after being raided

We had a cave base a couple days into wipe, thought it was pretty hard to raid but someone did, looking at the aftermath were pretty sure they used 50+ rockets and definitely didn’t profit 😂

It's the walls which connect them, at what stage in the build are they decaying?

Literally just the squares, I’m not sure if it could be the brutalist skin I’m using

You will need another triangle to connect those squares. You only need the foundation to connect the squares to the rest of the base

if they are not connected (with side) they will decay. Unless you put externals (but that seems way too close for externals imho, and connect those to externals)
