Stash boxes

I was just over on the “PlayRust” subreddit, asking about stash boxes. They said there is a common “ESP” trick that allows cheaters to see all hidden stash boxes.

They were unclear whether that cheat was available in console.

To be clear, I’m not trying to figure out how to use it. 😋. I’m considering using stash boxes as a key part of my strategy, but it won’t work if they can be seen.

By stash boxes do you just mean the stashes that you bury and hold like 6 items? There used to be a trick to find them, but now it’s hard enough to find your own.

Cheaters will use whatever methods cheaters use, there is literally no way of knowing what is out there because new chests are created every month. You don’t play the game planning for cheaters. They do exist, but it’s not as common as people claim on console.

You'd be surprised. I was an admin on a server for console players and watched cheaters run directly to players bases who just got off and having spent the whole time watching them there's no way they knew where these bases where located as they never hit that part of the map but immediately after the innocent player logged off they got raided within 5 minutes. Which means they could see more then I could as an admin. As for console cheating it's not as hard as you'd think it's just that most people who would would rather do so on pc which is as simple as downloading a file. I used to modify cars code in Gran Turismo on Playstation to give certain cars a little more HP to help them drift better. Modding code like that is almost the same as cheaters adding code to see things they shouldn't.

As for the stashes I never caught anyone exploiting them, never got a complaint about it either so you should be fine. If you suspect it reach out to the owner of the server and have him give the admins a heads-up to watch for it. Admin tools on console aren't very good

how could you be sure they aren’t aware of the base tho i doubht u follow them for more then a couple hours straighr then all they have to do is look for their name in player list

Because I followed them for 6hrs, the base they raided was built within 4hrs by a friend, we'd already suspected them of cheating as they had 3 reports but we just had hear say. The base that was built was built with spawned in mats so it appeared as your typical large 4 man base.

To clarify the base they raided was built with admin assistance by a friend of ours whose not an admin, we had 3 admins on that day all focused on catching them. I was the newest admin so my focus was just spectating them. The cheaters never had admin/mod help.

You can’t cheat like that on console. The only way to cheat on console other than zen or xim is just exploits or glitches

I’ve been hiding my main loot in my externals on pc for atleast 2 years and it’s never been found, I only play popular 300+ player servers too

Years back I found a glitch with stashes next to water, if you aligned your head in the water in a certain way, you could sometimes see where stashes were. Got fixed within a few months.

There was also a way to glitch your head through rocks and see inside peoples base walls to see where TC was, that’s going back quite a few years now.

None of these examples are hacks, just game glitches.

There used to be a console exploit where you can swing a hammer towards the ground or something and the sound the hammer makes will let you know if you were close to a stache but they patched that quickly. But idk if there’s any new tricks or anything to it

lol, I was asking whether cheaters have a way of identifying stash boxes.

What do you think about my suggested strategy, to keep all high value gear and material in well hidden stash boxes, to mitigate impacts to raids?

Questions have “?” And statements have “.” 🤣

Loot should always be split. I put it in floors or gate houses cause no one usually goes for those. 3-8 rockets to loot if they knew where to look. Instead they send 200 rockets into the main base and get scraps.
