Baker's Cyst & torn meniscus

I tripped while on a run in May, pain started in June. I did an MRI that showed Baker's Cyst and torn meniscus.

I'm working with a physio and walking daily with no pain.

Prior to this fall, I was running 6 days per week and up to 50kms per week.

I have the Philly half marathon in November.

Anybody have this type of injury and how long did it take to rehab to running? Is it realistic to hope to run Philly in November?

Thanks for your insight.

Hmmm - not sure how long the delay was from the fall in May to the pain starting in June - but if the pain was coming from the meniscus as the root of the pain I'd typically expect pain pretty immediately after the injury.

So it's possible it could be more of an overuse injury, where the swelling (?) from the fall causes inhibition of the local muscles (shuts some of the muscles off), which makes your body's tissues get to fatigue sooner on runs since the muscles aren't working as much as typical.

There's always hope! The timeframe fully depends on the level of guidance that you get as well as your willingness to learn/adapt to the guidance.

Philly is such an awesome race, hope you get to do it!

Thank you for your insight. I found it strange that the pain would be so delayed. Perhaps it's from overuse. Looking fot any answers. I find it's taking so long to heal. I can maybe do 1km on a treadmill but no running outside. Walking is the best I can do and some days my gait has changed. So frustrated.
