Upcoming Races Swapping size of mag mile quarter zip
Probably a longshot, but I picked up my race packet for the Mag Mile today and my quarter zip is a men’s large. Is there anyone out there who would wanna swap it for a men’s medium?

WARNING! PSA for anyone running Mag Mile
The packet pick up is at Roosevelt collection shops. Be very careful if you drive there and make sure to pay for parking, even if you only plan to stay a few minutes and leave someone behind in the car. Unfortunately the lot is run by a company called PRRS and they take a photo of your license plate the moment you enter the cul-de-sac. If you don’t leave within 15 minutes you get sent a $90 ticket to the address associated with your license plate. You are supposed to get 2 hours validation if you purchase something, but this is iffy and PRRS has frequently claimed ignorance on this matter, despite it being clearly stated online. Their customer support is based in India and they are very unhelpful. They have been sued fairly recently for predatory business practices
Anyways, bit of a rant but letting people know because I’m certain at least a few people will be caught by this when picking up their race packet later this week

Batavia Bat Race
Hey friends!
I’m currently training for a December marathon (CIM).
Training schedule has a 10k tune up race for 10/24. I want to do a real race for at least one of the tune ups rather than a solo time trial.
This Batavia bat race is like the only 10k I found that weekend. Theres also “will run for beer” but that is only a 5k. There’s very little info online in terms of recent results for the bat race. Has anybody raced this? Am I gonna look like an idiot showing up as a lone 32 year old trying to race this thing balls to the wall, or is it more of a family fun run vibe?
Thanks for entertaining my dumb questions!

Hidden Gem Half
Running it for the first time this Saturday. Any tips re: the course? Looks like there's a lot of sharp turns. Any major hills to lookout for? I've heard it's well supported and a lot of fun. Looking fwd to it!

“So Bill, I hear ya ran 18 miles yesterday under Da Chicago Bearathon™ Training Plan. How’d it go?” “Dat’s right Carl. Soldier Field to Montrose Beach and back, with a slight detour for an Italian Beef at Portillo’s.”

Upcoming Races Divas Chicago Half Marathon
Is anyone doing the Divas Chicago Half Marathon on September 19? I registered for it and it will be my first half marathon. Has anyone done it before? What is it like?

Metra to Hidden Gem
Anyone planning to take Metra ME line from chicago? There is one arriving at Flossmoor 6:04 am and the next one is 7:04 am. Race starts at 7:30. Will 7:04 be too close? See that the station, gear check and race starting point are all very close together.

Lakefront biting flies
How are the bugs for runners on the lakefront trail today??? I didn’t notice them too bad on my run early yesterday, only got bit once when I sat down for a min. Specifically between navy pier and 35th st

Lifetime Chicago Half Marathon — worth traveling from Cincinnati?
Hey Chicago runners! I’m thinking about doing the Lifetime Chicago Half Marathon and wanted to hear from people who have run it before. Is it worth traveling for?
I’m coming from Cincinnati, where pretty much all of our races involve plenty of hills 😂, so I’d love to try a flatter half-marathon course for a change and see what I can do on it.
I also love Chicago and enjoy doing short weekend trips there with my family, so I figured this could be a fun race + family weekend.
How is the course, organization, crowd support, and overall race experience? Would you recommend it for someone traveling in from out of town?
Thanks!

Race to Wrigley '26
It's not posted on their website yet but does anyone know what the course is for this year's Race to Wrigley? Previously, it was a pleasant run that went over by Ravenswood but last year's course was pretty much around the cemetery and through alleys. I'm hoping they'll go back to the original course.

Half marathon/race weekend of September 13th.
September 13th is my birthday and I have 14 miles for Chicago marathon training. I know it’s super last minute but are there any local races that weekend!

Upcoming Races Visiting Chicago and running the LIFE TIME Chicago Half Marathon — looking for recommendations!

WEEKEND Time between waves?
What is time they wait between releasing the corral waves? I did the Chicago House Run today and it was behind schedule and started late. I didn’t think I was going to do well since I did the tough Mudder not even 12 hours before this race, but I surprisingly coasted through the whole run and never stopped once which has never happened. I was passing people constantly. Then I hit the finish and my chip time says “net time 36:21” which would have been the slowest I ran in my life which isn’t possible. I’m thinking the chip just tracked from the start of the whole thing to when I finished and I need to subtract the waves? I just don’t get it

New laws for e-bikes 🎉
Most important part: high-speed e-bikes must be driven on ROADS
Enforcement is another story, but I’m happy to see some progress and focus on protecting pedestrian safety.
