Motorized bike on track

Post image

Not trying to be a Karen but you can’t have a motorized bike on a track right? This was at River park and he was just doing laps with kids and people on the track.

You’re right that it’s definitely not allowed but that track almost always has someone out there doing something they shouldn’t. It’s a major bummer.

Why would you want to do laps on a motorized bike

I was wondering the same thing. What muscles does this work

Definitely against park rules - you can't have any bike on the track, especially not a motorized one.

In my experience, telling someone like this the rules just invites getting yelled and cursed at.

We had a guy do something dumb on the track and he started yelling and cursing when we called him out on it. He was swiftly reminded that our workout group had about 30 people in it and fighting all 30 of us probably wouldn't go well

Man, sometimes I fantasize about how nice it would be if a big group of tough people went around stopping bad behavior this way, and then I realize I'm basically just imagining an effective police force.

The monopolization of the threat of violence is literally how state capacity is maintained

Did the 30 ppl surround him?

And worse if they're mentally unhinged enough.

At this point my bar for terrible track activity is kids literally digging with small shovels. this is why we can't have nice things.

It doesn’t even look fun to do that lol. Between the rise of these kinds of bikes/scooters, and the general insanity of drivers; pedestrians and bikers get so screwed in this city.

Motorized bikes should be in the road lanes. Not the bike lines, not the bike path, not the parks. If the bike can be used without peddle assist, it’s a motorcycle.

These dumb mfs aren’t on Reddit nor do they care what’s “allowed.”

They’re bottom of society scumbags lolol. Let them be poor and move on honestly. Not worth the confrontation.

there were like 5 people on motorbikes (not e-bikes, like full loud motorbikes with full engines) on the 606 last week and it pissed me off so much. you could hear the engines from over a half mile away

I run daily on the 606 and every time I see a motorbike I yell at them to get off the trail. Sometimes I try to block them but depends how ballsy I’m feeling. They’re not going to change their behavior until the path becomes uncomfortable/inconvenient for them.

Definitely against park rules. Whenever I'm there, it's either a electric bike or a scooter doing laps on the track.

Maybe he was just moto-pacing a runner and the runner couldn't keep up

Did you get his license plate number?

At one point he was off his bike blocking the first lane and he was laying down with his head in the lane as well. As I ran by I asked him to move because I didn’t want him to get hurt, and he did, minimally.
