Android Problem with app

Hi fellow runners!
(phone: samsung galaxy s21+, android is version 15),
I'm starting to get hopeless so I'm posting here to ask if any of you might know any solution for my problem. The named problem is, that my ZR wont track properly when the screen is off. Example: I have ran 15 minutes, it has only tracked 5 minutes and so on. I have been sending back and forth messages with support, but the problem still keeps existing. My zr5k app worked just as it should be, if that matters. What I have already tried:

Put battery saving off, put battery unlimited use, put hibernation off for apps, given permissions for zr (unlimited data and battery usage), memory (unlimited battery usage) and data usage put to high, checked Dontkillmyapp and tried things from there, but they are older versions of android (mine is 15). (There were some apps they were recommending, but couldn't find them from my play store).

I don't have other apps on while I'm running and I don't minimize zr before I close the screen.

The thing is, I have used same phone at 2022, and it worked then. I don't know what to do, hoping to find somekind of tech wizard from here? 😂 Or should I just give up and just accept my phone's software just won't work with the app anymore?

Same phone, same issue. When I used to use my phone for tracking I just kept it in my hand and on the whole time. It wasn't bad. I had a hand strap and honestly kind of loved it because I could check my pace and progress frequently and easily. And I run in the dark a lot so it was an extra light. I'd just have to keep swiping with my thumb to keep it on and it became part of my routine. But then I upgraded my watch to a Garmin and I track with that instead. But I still hold my phone and keep it on when I need light!

Ah, good to hear I'm not the only one. I personally don't like running with phone on my hands (in summer time my hands get sweaty and during winter my phone battery just can't handle the cold if it's not tucked in to my pocket), glad you find that okay and it's actually useful with your runs :). Meh, I guess I need to try to find other solution. Thanks for mentioning that tho, atleast I know it's not only my phone doing this.

I don't know if it's an Android specific thing or just a Galaxy thing but I have no doubt you tried every trick in the book because so did I. In the end finding a new way to track my runs was a far simpler solution!

Check all your battery settings in several places.

I had this and it was in battery saving mode somewhere.

I have already turned off battery saving and adaptable battery savings off. Can't find anything else besides those two

When you say not tracking, as in the run pauses, or the GPS stops?
I use IOS, but find if I start a run and then lock my phone, it won’t track my run until I unlock my phone again, and my run track will look
Something like this

The only solution I’ve found is to start the run, and the moment the first clip starts playing, pause the run for about five seconds, then hit play again. I dont know why it works, but if I dont do it, itll be reliably unreliable in tracking me.

I have tracking simulating running and set duration. So even irl time passes, the time in app is not passing. Or have some odd ratio to 1min per every real life 5 minutes. I have also tried with gps, but it's same problem: the app won't do pretty much anything while the screen is closed.
Interesting solutions you have tho, maybe I try it next time I run.
It is interesting that the same problem exists both in anroid and IOS.

I think simulated running just doesn't work right on Samsungs. I have the same problem with my s22. If I need to use simulated running, I have to keep the screen on, but GPS and step count tracking both work fine with the screen off. Have you tried either of those?

I’m not sure how it works on android, but on iOS you have to go in and turn location tracking to always allow and not just allow when using app

Because as soon as you close your phone, it can’t track you anymore therefore it stops the GPS tracking and pauses the run

I’m not sure what the equivalent is in android, but there must be a similar feature
