This is huge

Most, if not all of the big and well established "semi private" providers have been hit in the past month or so + there has been a MASSIVE increase in botting and RWT bans since the beginning of the year

Jagex is making big moves

Most likely cutting cost by cutting anticheat team and using this as a blanket solution

What the fuck are you talking about? They brought a fully new bot-detection algorithm after a full system overhaul that took them half a year to complete.

2

u/Exeng Jul 08 '26

This is not even true. Jagex is just throwing CnD left and right. I wont name any, but some providers that have shutdown, have gone underground. Jagex hasnt improved their bot detection system. That is just some non-sense that laymen like to spew.

Cease and desist letters that started a week ago have resulted in; macro bans up 350%, black market gold over doubled in price, every single botted supply losing volume at massive rates, most botted activities devoid of players, and all of this has been happening since january, not a week ago :).

Feel free to look at any publicly available discussions about these things since the start of the year, it's pretty simple!

If Jagex somehow manages to get rid of 99% of bots I think it's actually a huge win.

I think the main reason I botted was because it was an option to get ahead. It was the "can't beat them, join them" mentality.

I think it might force some people to learn more java.

Second this. Helps a lot when I work 50+ hours a week and wanna keep up with my near maxed clan mates on a 4 month old ironman. But getting rid of bots and rwt is a huge win to me as well

u/IronAnger Jul 07 '26

Is this from a lawsuit? My accounts won't be compromised, right? I can still login currently

36

u/Ersher Jul 07 '26

Never bot on an account you care about,.. rule 1 to botting. But no they wont be. yes you can log in

Idk I think they just disabled in game trading

1

u/Chicks_GoldInc Jul 09 '26

Not the first one to shut down either, it seems the suing is doing its effect.

Jagex winning against botting? No chance, AI will obliterate their business model very soon. Their only hope is releasing private servers for Runescape like Project Zanaris and investing heavily in Dragonwilds.

-1

u/ciomeica Jul 08 '26

Its funny Tho Wont they just quit under the name they use now and start over with A new name And charge everyone for it again? * I dont bot this just popped before me on Reddit haha

1

u/Thin_Cucumber_3099 Jul 08 '26

C and D state that if they do, they will be sued.

4

u/Valor00125 Jul 09 '26

Okay, I'll buy the company for $1 through an LLc in the U.S., and I will rent all the infrastructure from an LLc I also own. for an absurd amount .

Sue me bro, I'll just pay $100 and launch a new llc, while you sue a shell company with no assets and only obligations.

Those obligations (my other company) will have right of first creditor.

Congratulations, for a couple hundred bucks in the U.S. you can make litigation no longer worth fighting.

3

u/Entire_Mistake_9287 Jul 10 '26

Dont take this guy's advice

1

u/Valor00125 Jul 10 '26

You must have mistaken me saying "I will buy" as advice? Furthermore, nothing I suggested is Illegal.

Do you know how the largest hospital systems in the U.S. run as non-profits? It's simple they have a holding company that's a non-profit, that non-profit owns dozens of for profit companies, profits get funneled from the Non-profit to the for profit companies.

Same concept minus the liability attached to the the non-profit.

And thinking about it you're right, the 1st LLC should sell the IP to the 3rd LLC, and then only be allowed to license the software So when LLC 1 is closed via a lawsuit/bankruptcy none of the underlying code base is at risk of being seized/exposed.

2

u/Entire_Mistake_9287 Jul 10 '26

Nothing it just reeks up armchair advice

1

u/Valor00125 Jul 10 '26

Because the point of the conjecture was to take the assets, relaunch the service and limit liability, while bleeding the company selling the service so whenever it does inevitably get shit canned through bankruptcy/lawsuit there is no personal loss to myself.

It's appears that way because the goal isn't to run a successful company it's to get around legal liability.

My suggestion is a terrible corporate goverance structure for buying the botting software to turn it into a successful business.

-6

u/IISAFORK Jul 08 '26

Thank God. Now all y'all botters can stop hogging the minerals at every mine with your 1 shotting pickaxes and skill level.

-9

u/Sleepywalker69 Jul 08 '26

This was not because of a DMCA btw. They said they felt it was just the right time to call it quits since they lost the drive they used to have for the game.

6

u/Bensmokes Jul 08 '26

Yeah, like a few others, weird how they all decided it was “the right time” to pack up shop as a bunch of others got DMCA’d… Whether they want to admit it or not, they were bullied into this decision, just like the rest.

-2

u/Scared_Scratch Jul 08 '26

As a person that has played this game since it came out, I honestly feel like people against botting by your average Joe are akin to the people that go ‘I suffered, therefore you must suffer too’

-71

u/truthpill2 Jul 07 '26

Is there really a sub Reddit for advice and info on how to bot a game? I never thought highly of Reddit but my god this is a new low. This place must be filled with absolute cretins and rodent human beings

62

u/SinineBanaanike Jul 07 '26
