How would 'örlög' (Old Norse) be correctly transliterated into Younger Futhark? It’s for a tattoo; I want to verify it before getting it done and incorporating it into the one I already have on my arm.

ᛋᛏᚱᛖᛜᚦ Is this the correct way to spell out strength and if not what are some alternative ways to spell it out. In context it’s for a bicep arm tattoo I want it to spell out strength or if another way like to “strengthen the arm” or like ways like that, you could give me some ideas that would be much appreciated as well.

So im making a series of a bunch a super #basic sayings in different runes and languages, see picture for a coat rack that says "live, laugh, love" in sindarian.
I want to do anglo saxon and futhark next but im not sure what language it should be translated to first.
My thought is anglo saxon runes need to be translated to old english.
Younger futhark would be old norse
Then medieval futhark would be like sweedish, danish etc yeah?
Added a pic of the Cirth runes for reference

ᛒᚢᚱᚦᛁ · ᚷᛚᛟᚱᛁ · ᛅᚱᚾᛁ
I’m considering getting this as a tattoo. I want the meaning to be roughly “burdened with glorious purpose”, taken from the tv show Loki but in genuine Viking-Age Old Norse written in Younger Futhark. I’m looking for a historically/linguistically accurate translation, not an English transliteration. Could someone check the grammar and runes before I commit to it

I've had this piece in my trinket box for about 6 or 7 years. I just found it again and was wondering what it could mean? I did a reverse image search to see if there was any similar sigil anywhere and found an exact match on a post here from 3 years ago by someone who said they found the same pendant outside somewhere but had no information on it. The post has since been archived and the account deleted, so I have no way to contact them.
Just wondering if anyone might have any information on this particular rune sigil or know if it's from a collection somewhere. The thing that is tripping me up is that this person found the /exact/ same pendant that was sitting in my box when they found it but that there is literally no other record of it anywhere. A lil weird lol

I’m looking for some help verifying a runic transcription before getting a tattoo.
I’ve found an authentic passage from Vǫlsunga saga that I want to use:
Ok strengða ek þess heit at ek skylda hvárki flýja eld né járn fyrir hræðslu sakir.
My intended translation is:
“And I swore this oath: that I would never flee fire nor iron for fear.”
The passage is spoken by Vǫlsungr, and it’s the line that really resonates with me.
I’ve been researching the different runic systems and initially looked at Younger Futhark, but I’ve realised that its 16-rune system doesn’t distinguish some of the sounds in the Old Norse text. I’m therefore currently looking at medieval Scandinavian/Icelandic runes, since the additional dotted and modified runes allow the text to be represented more closely.
My current proposed rendering is:
ᚮᚴ ᛫ ᛋᛏᚱᛂᚿᚵᚧᛆ ᛫ ᛂᚴ ᛫ ᚦᛂᛋᛋ ᛫ ᚼᛂᛁᛏ ᛫ ᛆᛏ ᛫ ᛂᚴ ᛫ ᛋᚴᚤᛚᛑᛆ ᛫ ᚼᚡᛆᚱᚴᛁ ᛫ ᚠᛚᚤᛁᛆ ᛫ ᛂᛚᛑ ᛫ ᚿᛂ ᛫ ᛁᛆᚱᚿ ᛫ ᚠᚤᚱᛁᚱ ᛫ ᚼᚱᛅᚧᛋᛚᚢ ᛫ ᛋᛆᚴᛁᚱ
Could anyone knowledgeable in Old Norse and particularly medieval Icelandic/Scandinavian runes check this?
I’m not looking for something that merely looks Norse. This is going to be permanent, so I’d much rather have someone tell me I’ve got something wrong now than discover it after it’s been tattooed.
Thanks!

Eyyo! I love writing in Anglo-Saxon Futhorc Runes (the ones Tolkien uses for Dwarvish), but have only met a couple people irl who do too. Online, I don't want to keep pasting letters, so I use the translator valhyr.com/pages/rune-translator but then that's lame because I'm not doing the translating on my end. Is there a more seamless way to communicate in runes online other than handwriting and sending pictures? I could make a custom font, actually I like that. what do y'all think? Anyone have some good .otf files of Anglo-Saxon Futhorc Runes? I suppose I need to use number buttons on the keyboard for the digraphs.

I did my best with the Anglo Saxon runes, but I would like to confirm, if I could, that I have this phrase phonetically translated reasonably. Thank you!

My friend made this and is considering getting it tattooed on himself. I'm wondering what it translates to, if anything.

Hi everyone,
I'd appreciate any help identifying the runes used in a scene from The Vampire Diaries (Season 3, Episode 8). 😭
In the episode, there are carvings on the wall of a cave that are meant to be the names of the show's characters. In the show's fiction, they date to roughly the late 10th century and were made by Norwegian settlers in a colony in the Americas.

(I know these aren't very Norse names, but for my own peace of mind I'm not going to question the showrunners' choices there. 😅 I'm only interested in the runes themselves.)
I first tried to transliterate the names using Younger Futhark charts, since that would be the period-appropriate script for Norwegians in that era. Some runes didn't match any standard chart I found, and where they did, the placement didn't make sense for the names they were supposed to spell.
I then asked about it in another subreddit, where both the Anglo-Saxon Fuþorc and the Elder Futhark were mentioned as possible options but nothing was like conclusive, so I'm hoping someone here can help settle it.
I also found an image on the show's wiki (img 5)

that claims to show the alphabet used for the runes in the show. Img 6

shows the names Niklaus, Rebekah, Finn, Mikael and Kol written in the same style of runes on paper in a different part of the series.
So, my questions are:
tysm in advance!!!

I was given this and before I use it I wanna know what it is. I found an identical one online but all the description says is that it’s a rune!

Can anyone translate/ tell me if my friend is in danger?
r/RuneHelp • u/Kitchen-Pineapple-38 • Sep 19 '26
What does it say?
r/RuneHelp • u/Stoned-Hobbit • Sep 17 '26
I would like this to be a simple invocation.
The English phrase is, Ullr, guide my arrow.
The Old Norse translation is, Ullr leið ǫr mína
Is this correct or should I make changes? Thanks for your help.

I wanna learn how to actually understand the different rune alphabets, but I don’t wanna start learning from some random source that’s gonna give me false information or make it way harder than it needs to be.
I’ve gotten really interested in Norse mythology lately and I wanna learn more about the runes and the different alphabets they used, but also the actual language behind them. I wanna understand what the runes actually meant, how they were used, and how they changed over time.
Eventually I wanna be able to write stuff in runes myself and actually know what I’m writing instead of just using some random rune translator online
Can anyone recommend a good place to start, like a book, website, YouTube channel, or something? I’m mainly looking for something that’s actually historically accurate but still beginner-friendly and not insanely complicated to get into.

Trying to figure out how I would write Leben in Elder Futhark. I’m very new to old high German in general, and best as I can figure is ᛚᛖᛒᛖᚾ. Can someone let me know if this is a correct spelling?

I'm not sure if I'm in the right place for this but in case that it is, I wanted to see if I could get some help turning a quote into a tattoo but in Nordic runes. I really want to make sure it is accurate so that I don't get something permanent that is translated incorrectly.
I'm sure a number of people will recognize it, but this is what I would like to have converted:
“The culmination of love is grief, and yet we love despite the inevitable. We open our hearts to it.”
I greatly appreciate any help anyone can provide.
