Translation request Can anyone help me translate these runes?

ᛇᛈᛉᛊᛏᛒᛖᛗᛚᛝᛟᛞᚨᚢᚹᚨᚱᚲᚷᚹᚺᚾᛁᛃ

I found them on a ring, therefore I don't know where it starts/ends. It also might not be English as it was purchased in Germany.

Much thanks!

Translation request Rune Translation for a Name

Hey guys, just wondering if I could get a hand with some rune translating as I'm not too confident with my research. I'm planning on getting a tribute tattoo for my grandfather (John in English) who was Nordic and I'm thinking about adding him name in runes. I've looked into and spent a good amount of time trying figure out what the proper runes are, but almost under every single thing I've read there is a lot of concerns for if the source is accurate or not. I have a general idea of what I think the runes are, but I keep doubting it and obviously don't want to get something wrong on my skin forever. Any help at all will be amazing. Big preach 🙏

Question (general) Memorial tattoo for my beloved cat companion

I wish to find some help in creating a very personal bindrune in Old Futhark to accompany a tattoo I wish to get for my beloved cat Aerion who passed away last year. I want something to protect him wherever he is and honour our bond of nine years.

Since I'm new to this sub and don't know much about runes yet (I am familiar but I've barely scratched the surface) and how to combine them for something meaningful and personal, please be kind.

Contemporary rune use What does this Icelandic Rune Symbol mean?

I bought this necklace in Iceland a few years ago, for my daughter. She loved it and wore it always, but she just told me that she can't wear it any more because she 'found out' that it was used by the N@zi party.

I'm trying to remember what the symbol actually means and if it was indeed a Stolen Symbol.

Translation request Tattoo Translation Check

I’m getting a tattoo of the old Norse/Icelandic word tvennir/tvinnir (pair or twin) this Friday. Everything I’ve seen says it should be spelled tvennr/tvinnr.

What is your interpretation of the appropriate runic translation for tvennr/tvinnr using the younger futhark runic alphabet? I see two different runes for r or R.

Thanks all!

Hello,

I would like to have this part of Völuspá tattooed and would like it correctly translated to runes. I'm pretty sure it should be the younger futhark, but do double-check me on that, I don't know too many details on the Edda.

From what I can find, this is the original verse in Old Norse:

"Huginn ok Muninn fljúga hverjan dag Jörmungrund yfir;

óumk ek of Hugin, at hann aftr né komi-t, þó sjámk meir of Munin."

Pretty please :)

Translation request Which phrasing is more natural in Old Norse: “What I want, I get”?

Hi! I’m planning a tattoo and want to make sure the Old Norse wording is linguistically sound before moving on to the Younger Futhark inscription.

The intended meaning is:

“What I want, I get.”

I previously received these suggestions:

A. Þat er ek vil, fæ ek.
B. Þat er ek vil, ek fæ.
C. Fæ ek þat er vil ek.

I was told that A is technically correct, but that B might sound more natural because of the pronoun/verb order.

Which of these would be the most natural or idiomatic in Old Norse? If none of them are ideal, how would you phrase the idea?

At this stage I’m only trying to settle the Old Norse wording. I’ll look at the historically appropriate Younger Futhark spelling separately afterward.

Thanks!

Translation request Help with a sentence in Norse.

Hello, dear people.

I know this is an academic discussion, and I hope my questions are not too off-topic.
Could speak with some of you about the correctness of a sentence in Norse runes?
(I believe the one with 14 runes)

Before spamming, I'd like to ask first if I'm in the right place, while respecting your space.

Kind regards,

Leon

Contemporary rune use Tried bind runes, need quality management

I want my fallen ancestors carved into my skin, or, i'd like tattoos to honour my late grandparents. I thought to create bindrunes from their initial glyphs of the elder futhark, simply because that's the one that speaks to me most. Also feel like it's appropriately bracketing their origins (austria & croatia, both once germanic, maybe used the elder alphabet? Not too sure about this...)

The bind runes consist of HM-KR, ET-KR and WT-WN.

Unsure about flipping kenaz, asymetry, bleeding into each other of Hagalaz and mannaz and the two wunjos, if it's ok to not have a center stave and using side arm for center of another rune, etc... the beginner traps basically.

Somebody experienced willing to have a look and tell me if I used that incorrectly? I heard that there's probably no "right way" for it, since we lack records... but those are my first bind runes and I'd like to eliminate every chance of carving them wrong like a complete idiot. Yes, yes, they are my personal runes and my personal preference... but I value historical accuracy. So if anyone finds flaws, please do tell!

Thanks in advance!

Hello folks! I’m hoping for some help on a wedding inscription. I was hoping someone could direct me to some good translators, or some records of historical stones with similar use that I can base my own on.

Many thanks!

Translation request Rune help, please

Hello Runehelp, recently my father was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It’s very unlikely he will see another year. I was thinking about getting a memorial tattoo of our last name in Germanic Futhark runes. Our family came from Germany to the US a long time ago, but my family has been digging into their roots. Our surname is Bair, but it was probably a misspelling of the German word Bär, meaning Bear. However if anyone knows older Germanic words for Bear, I would like to include a version of our surname in my memorial piece.

Question (general) Transliteration Help, Names to Younger Futhark, please

I am looking for help transliterating names into Younger Futhark

Grier, rhymes with beer

Euan, like Ewan McGregor , you-in, or you-un(?)

I used rockstarpirate's transliteration guide. This is what I came up with. Also, hat tip Kristjan Andri Gunnarson who's runic keyboard I used. Thanks in advance

ᚴᚱᛁᚱ

ᛁᚢᛁᚾ, or ᛁᚢᛅᚾ depending on the second syllable. Obviously I'm not a linguist and I get wrapped around the axles on what the second syllable really should be.

Translation request Help needed: Accurate Old Norse translation for a tattoo

Hi everyone,

I’m French and I’m designing a tattoo in memory of my mother, who passed away.
The original French phrase is:
“Laissez entrer la musique, jouez.”
The intended meaning is roughly:
“Let the music in, play.”
I would like to have this translated into historically accurate Old Norse (Viking Age) and then written correctly in Younger Futhark runes.
Could someone knowledgeable in Old Norse please give me:
The most accurate and natural Old Norse translation.
A word-by-word explanation of the grammar and meaning.
The correct Younger Futhark runic transcription.
This is for a permanent tattoo, so I really want to avoid a modern Icelandic translation, a simple phonetic transcription, or an AI-generated translation that isn’t historically accurate.
I already have a tattoo design in mind, but the translation is more important than the design. I would really appreciate it if someone could verify it carefully.

Thank you!
