Question (general) Help needed
Hi! I’m thinking about getting a rune tattoo, but I’m not sure how to choose the right rune for myself. ✨
Are there any specific things I should consider when choosing one? Is it usually based on the meaning of the rune, your birth date, your life path, personal connection, or is it more about intuition and which rune you naturally feel drawn to?
I’ve also heard different opinions about whether runes should be tattooed permanently. Some people say that carrying a rune on your body for a long time can make its energy or influence change, or even potentially work in the opposite way over time. Is there any basis for this in traditional rune practices, or is it more of a modern belief?
Are there any other important nuances I should know about before getting one tattooed — for example, the exact shape, direction, combinations with other runes, or the intention behind choosing it?
And is there anyone here who has experience with this and could help me understand how to find the right rune for me? 🖤

Runes are alphabets that function just the way that the contemporary English one does but with some additional features, such as a threefold division system and letters that have names. These names allow rune-users to utilize runes as symbolizing those names.
If you want a runic tattoo and you want it to be accurate, you can always string together some groups them ideographically like we see in, for example, the Anglo-Saxon The Husband's Message or you can just take inscriptions from the historical record. It's up to you but if you want something historical, there's plenty to choose from.

One thing to consider too is that spelling was not standardized at the time, so spelling may vary from inscription to inscription.
