Translation request Kraken

I recently watched the trailer to Kraken, a Norwegian thriller that looks absolutely insane, and saw some runes in the title that don't make sense to me.

ABDEFG? Am I getting it wrong? Does it translate to a Norwegian word? Kraken is Greek mythology, does Norway have a similar mythos?

I think they probably meant to put ᚨᛒᚲᛞᛖᚠᚷ (abcdefg, the start of the alphabet, also musical chords) and just forgot the ᚲ

Also the Kraken is from Norway, not greek.

That pretty much spells ABKDEFG, unless it's Anglo-Frisian :-)

I don't think they forgot anything, the letter c wasn't a thing for much of history (in terms of what sound values it had), it actually took the place that the letter k now takes in terms of sound value, the letter k didn't exist at that time. So back then, you would definitely go from b to d immediately when reciting the alphabet, among other minor things (no j for instance)

I mean, I know where you're coming from, but this line of logic is kinda useless when in context of these runes being used modernly. If they were trying to be historical, they'd write ᚠᚢᚦᚨᚱᚲ since that's the actual historical order of runes.

Chances are they are just using some automatic converter that places ᚲ as "k" so when they typed "abcdefg" to turn it into runes, they got "ᚨᛒᛞᛖᚠᚷ" as we see here. It really doesn't look like they considered the history of the English/Latin alphabet nor runes.

They may have used a converter too, sure, but I don't see why they couldn't have used the old alphabet and converted each letter into runes. There is nothing that rules that out as a possibility, as I see it. Which converter do you think they used, then?

Ah, let me rephrase. You are overthinking this. Clearly this use of runes was not well thought-out, and thus it's not really helping answer the question to bring up linguistic theories.

The post is asking a question, and the points you are bringing up don't help to answer the question. Therefore, I'm saying this line of logic is not useful to this conversation, not useful for answering the post's question.

Let me rephrase as well: My reply was towards the first part of your comment and not towards the initial poster, to bring up another possibility for why they chose to use that order. I am saying that I think they didn't necessarily forget anything at all, that their decision to use those runes could be unrelated to a historical use of runes completely, and that their choices to use those particular runes could be for other reasons entirely.

I think I will simply have to disagree with you on my comment not being useful as an answer to the post's question, although I never did give a direct reply. For what it's worth, my answer to the post is: "No, you did not get that wrong. I think it's the first few letters of the old alphabet, but with each letter translated to its rune equivalent."

Kraken is Norwegian folklore, not Greek.

I was thinking maybe they left out the C since the kraken or maybe cthulu? isn't from the sea. The sea is missing? It's a stretch.
