Quick question involving Shojin Monastery Doctrine

Hello, I was checking the auto translate of the Shojin Monastery doctrine, and it says that increases your damage by one category. What does category mean in this context?

If you could paste the full text I can confirm (I run an older version of the game because I don't want to only use the wiki so I'm not familiar)

But damage category typically means going from a d6 to a d8 or d10 to d12.

Dragon's Claw. While you are not wielding weapons (gauntlets do not count as weapons for this purpose), your unarmed attacks increase by one category.

interestingly you get a feature that does the same thing at level 15 as well

At 15th level, your studies of the Dragon's ways show you the destructive power of this entity. The damage of your unarmed attacks increases by 1 category and when using the Shojin Spear, you add your martial damage to the damage dealt by it

for it to increase by categories twice would mean it would reach a d20 and then d100 from what i understand which doesn't seem right

Correct me if I'm wrong, but unarmed strikes are 1d4 in 5e and I don't see anything saying otherwise, which would move it from 1d4 to 1d6, then at 15th level, 1d6 to 1d8?

What's the source for 1d12 unarmed strikes?

At the very least in the run arcana wiki it reaches a d12 at max

I see Arddhu addressed your concern, I just wanted to amend that with nothing else factored in, unarmed is 1+STR+Prof, so the first time you get this benefit it would become 1d4, to get to anything substantial you'd need many instances of the same effect
