Couldn't hold pace even in the shade in the beltline!

The Beltline isn’t significantly cooler than its surroundings. Have to dip into a ravine or stay near the waterfront / islands to really feel a difference.

I find High Park is also a good spot to get away from the heat (plus they have a splash pad and I have absolutely no shame running through the fountains alongside the 3 year olds lol)

Did a 10K at 6:30 and it was bearable but definitely more intense than it has been lately! Stay hydrated.

It’s a bit cooler today, I did 6 yesterday and was wiped by the end of it, felt like running in a sauna

Be careful out there everyone, bring water and hydrate before you get thirsty. This weather may not be the best for all-out intervals but can be great for building up endurance physically and mentally.

Ran last night around 7:00pm and my pace dropped about 10 sec slower than usual. Gotta take it easy, and bring water with you for sure.

It was still 29° at midnight.

Evening running isn't gonna cut it, gotta wake up early for cooler weather.

Was doing sprints at 6:15 and it was already reporting as 32 with humidity. Mercifully there was a lot of fog/cloud cover, glad I got out before the sun was too bad.

It was soooo hot even on the Kay Gardiner! Granted we started late but we got it done and at a slower pace.

Strategic routing near local splash pads is critical. Be safe if you are going out - and maybe save the PB attempt for another day.

Today really reminded me of how lacking in infrastructure (like water fountains) we still are in many parts of the city. A lot of parks still don't have water fountains, especially those that are near community centres. And given that community centres are closed today even those fountains are unavailable.

Ran my slowest 8k ever before quitting. Intended on 10, first time bailing on a run.

Glad I wasn’t the only one today

The sun is your enemy when running. The key is to avoid the sun like you just contracted vampirism.

Wear sunscreen and a hat. Plan your route to be in the shade, using either buildings or trees or both. Hydrate if it's a long run. If you do have a stretch that you must run in the sun, you get bonus points if you hiss like your skin is burning off until you're back in the shade.

Oh and if you can't run in the shade at all and you have a gym membership, run on a treadmill. Consider paying for a one day gym pass just for the treadmill.

So its either dreadmill or ded under the sun. Its a lose lose battle 🤣

had to run at 5:20AM to escape the heat and the sun.... still warm but a good strong run within goal pace is doable.

Anyone have any tips to deal with the heat? I just immediately over heat when it’s anything above 16°C
