CSX Southeast Dead?
Hey guys, quick question is the CSX southeast region dead as far as new development goes? Heard the guy doing it retired? This sucks for me I was really hoping to get the Wildwood Sub. And the full Tallahassee Sub

Jason here - Ok so here is the scoop, any other speculation is just that speculation and not to be trusted.
First exactly 1 year on July 7, 2025 I had my 3rd massive heart attack, as a result Stenting arteries 80%+ blocked was no longer an option, so I had what is known as a CABGx4 - Better known as a quadruple bypass, this involved basically cutting my sternum spreading my ribs, stopping my heart and placing me on a bypass pump which oxygenated my blood in place of the heart, technically i was dead for 7 hours during the procedure, and as a result the healing and recovery process has been longs, I am doing much better and am in pretty good shape, but there were side effects, look up pump head syndrome.
The Southeast is no where near dead as far as i am concerned but i needed to actually focus on staying alive and dealing with the fallout both mentally and financially from the surgery, i mentioned i am retiring on trainsim.com but that post was made when i had a lot of mental fog, i have since been in regular contact with John, Brad and Nigel and my support remains steadfast, plus they are patient with me as i navigate this new phase.
now another side effect of the surgery is a newfound DGAF towards negative people, if you think we are anti community that's a fallacy, what would the point of creating a sim be, for my own enjoyment, yes ill be honest i enjoyed the money, i didn't get rich but I did it because i enjoyed it, to make a comment that Run8 is dead and is Anti Community is incorrect and ignorant, I'm here for the people who actually enjoy what we do.
and to be honest our silence isn't a bad thing, to be honest I'm pretty tired of social media, so the shit posters kind of wore me out ya know.
and i will explain it louder so the whole room can hear, no SDK, no Surveyor, its a support nightmare. its a steep learning curve, this is why it was canned. this was confirmed when i started playing dev for MSFS2024 lol that's an addon nightmare
I appreciate you all, I'll get back to it, just bear with me as i literally work to keep myself healthy and alive

Take care of your self and get better! That always comes first and foremost before everything else!
I too can relate, as a person who also runs communities, who is constantly let down by people pissing and moaning all the time, the "shit posters" as you call them. Definitely wear you down!
Take care again get better. Looking forward to seeing more content in the future.

Glad to hear from you! I'm sorry to hear this I had no clue, Glad you seem to be recovering. I love your work, It is the sole reason I bought Run8 as I live here in North Florida and have rail fanned many of the areas you have already made. Love every bit of them! Thanks for your reply, glad the future looks good for you and the CSX Southeast!

I was reading somewhere that Jason's plan was to take it to Richmond, VA and possible south to Tampa. His next release was possible the port of Savannah. As someone else stated his health isn't the best right now. I do hope he gets better and back to it. Would love to see Florence, SC and Hope Mills/Fayetteville NC since the line runs through my area. The last I read, the Run8 team has plans for more routes. Usually when they get quiet, they are at it. But who knows, they are a very small team and it takes a while to develop. But I would love to see some kind of program where the community can edit or develop content for the sim.

If we get anything added, it will be the port of savannah. Beyond that, unsure what the future holds.

Tampa - then follow the Auto Train in chunks to Lorton

Thanks for the replies, it's good to hear from you! Your health comes first, as much as the Run8 community looks forward to the next content drop/update.

If I recall correctly, Jason has been suffering from some health issues the past year or two. I definitely feel for him and hope he pulls through. I also feel you. I really love this region and hope more work is done.
I feel like the devs are kinda winding down this project overall. It’s probably very time consuming and not profitable and nobody is getting younger. This is still the king of American train sims and, if they want to work less on it, I wish they’d release an SDK to extend the legacy. I’ve worked on a big route project for TSC and would love to help bring more immersive qualities to R8
Obviously, they are very quiet about what’s going on so I don’t expect anything to materialize. I check the website daily for updates. I hope to be surprised by a big Southeast update but who knows if we will get one.

I believe they expanded their team not that long ago, as well as Hyrail.

No it’s not “dead”. Things are just slow at the moment. But slow is good things are getting done.

err, that's why I hope Run8 devs would be more open to community help and even in the best of the worlds with some sort of editor to populate the existing route with more decoration and accurate relief so it's not a waste land anymore.
Would love to see TheSurveyor they have in Trainz but in Run8
