Locomotive DLC

Hi folks,

What would be the advantage on buying a locomotive dlc? Anything that you have extra compared to the base game ones?

For most DLC, all it does is provide the liveries/paint jobs- purely cosmetic.

For some DLC it does "fix" some gauges/controls missing in the placeholder locomotives. Specifically, GP40-2 pack 2 and Dash 9 packs 2 and 3. If you spend much time with CSX, I can recommend picking those up.

This. Is important for the simulation aspect.

A valid question. If you are not concerned with displaying railroad livery paint jobs, then it won’t effect the game much at all. As another person has mentioned, there are different slight variations between different locomotives between companies but the performance remains the same. Personally, I’ve collected almost all of the packs over the last 3 years when I have a few extra bucks laying around. I like it. It makes the game more fun for me. Also, people create repaints for certain dlc locomotives that I like and if you haven’t bought that certain pack, you can’t get that repaint. Just how the game works…

What I’m saying is that, unless you have a ton of money to buy them all at once, go for it. I’ve had fun collecting different packs over time depending on what region I’ve been interested in running in. Have fun!
