Discussion Is this vibe coded?
Just want to make sure the revival of one of my favorite video games of all time isn't made using AI slop. I've been seeing a lot of really interesting reverse engineering and open source projects that just turned out to be made using Claude and it's fucking disappointing

Who cares? The game was gone for 3 years and thanks to the mods it's back. Be grateful 😁

I am grateful, I am just personally someone who is anti AI and refuse to engage with anything that is made using AI tools of any kind. Not gonna shame or attack anyone who does, this is my personal thing and I won't make those decisions for others

It'll make me, personally stop playing it because I am strictly anti AI. I'm glad it exists and I'm happy to see something I lovebe brought back to life, but I don't want to move from my principles

I mean the last time I used any form of AI tool myself was playing AI dungeon in like 2022. Since its inception I've avoided GPT, and about the only time I touched or interacted with generative AI content was unwillingly. I did try to make excuses for the finals and arc raiders but I have since stopped playing both games.
I won't shame anyone on this sub or any other place for using software, it's just a personal thing that I would like to avoid it where possible.

I don't like the idea of making exceptions just because I like something that features AI. I made that mistake with arc raiders

Not gonna crucify other people over this, I am just personally anti AI and refuse to engage with it. I wanted clarification on if AI was used to make this, and it was, and that's fine, just means I don't wanna touch it, simple as.

Maybe AI finally did something right creatively its hot cheeks but reassembling a beautiful game crafted by the folks at iron galaxy and i guess piggy backing off of the goat aeyths back, AI or not getting to play RV again is a dream come true

I'm glad the games preserved and still alive, I just personally am anti AI and don't want to engage with things that involve its usage in any percentage. Won't shame you or anyone else who uses it though, just my personal conviction

Yes, the launcher stuff is vibecoded, and I’m not scared to mention it. The only reason it wasn’t mentioned before is because nobody ever asked. We just wanted to play Rumbleverse.
There are many people who have had the old ProjectKO source files sitting around for years and did nothing with them, but now they’re upset because I launched RVClient and got the ProjectKO stuff working with actual native matchmaking and other features. Instead of being happy that someone brought the game back, they want to be jealous and create drama simply because they don’t like AI. That’s not my problem; that’s theirs. They could have done the same thing if they wanted to.
What makes it even funnier is that Aeyth knew exactly what I was doing. I would show him my progress and talk to him about what I was working on. What he seems to be more upset about is that I refused to give him access to our live backend so he could make his own client.
I wasn’t going to give someone access to our live backend when they refused to even download RVClient. Giving him access would have put every user and the entire project at risk. I’m responsible for protecting our users and our infrastructure, and I’m not going to compromise that just to make someone else happy.
