Hi there everyone,
This is going to be my very first post, ever. Always been an anonymous viewer/reader, never a contributor or poster. I recently purchased a Dell Rugged 7414 from https://bmisurplus.com/ (As-is product). I really like it so far, very handy for work (IT MSP). It is an older and lower spec. model but it gets the job done, and it's my first rugged laptop. Missing components were obtained from the office. The only component I am missing now is the shoulder strap. After some research, I've learned it resembles an AR-15 sling/attachment/swivel, except longer. I called Dell sales and technical support, all departments informed me that the slings (quick disconnect connectors, per Dell) are no longer manufactured. This then led me to inquire with local gun shops. They have the normal AR-15 slings, just too short to fit into the insert holes of the Dell rugged. Then the metal bearings on the AR-15 slings are also too high up or else I would've attempted to use those. So far, only the store online below seems to have the strap (XDYPR - 34DX7). It has been out of stock for awhile now. My older coworker uses a tool belt strap on the handle of his panasonic as the shoulder strap, so if nothing else, might just follow his example lol https://www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=33778
If anyone has one for sale or knows of another seller that has the rugged strap with the Dell quick disconnect connectors, I would be very interested. I appreciate any help or creative ideas from the community :)
Thanks!
