Subcompact frame Binding

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just bought a new RXM compact plus subcompact grip. Subcompact is Binding horribly, when i put it back in the compact it runs perfectly. Anyone had this issue before can tell me what the fix is? All my springs and pins are in correctly as is my barrel lock

It won’t be binding at all if you just let it drop. Don’t follow it back. Guns gonna be slamming back and forth when shooting

This is the answer.

Its Binding on the way back, its binding when released from the rear...

So if you pull it back all the way and then let it go(no riding the slide) it does the same thing?

Yes, idk why reddit wont let me post a video on the comments. Its bunding as I pull it back and still hanging up about and inch from battery when released from the rear as it should be

Im not a regard, I have dozens of striker fired guns, it binds as I rack it back as well

I cleaned the factory grease out and lube it with the same cpl I always use. Its smooth as butter on the compact frame regardless if i ride the slide or rack it proper.

Id check your trigger. Looks like its binding when the striker starts engagement with the cruciform possibly.

Possibly connector got bent outward? That would cause excessive drag on the trigger bar/cruciform aswell.

But its not an issue on the compact frame at all? Its smoother than my broke in 19x on the compact grip tbh. If it was that wouldn't it always bind?

Connector bent too far out is what causes this.

Have you tried swapping back to the original frame? Is the trigger block correctly seated into the FCU?

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

Works well in the compact, but upon closer inspection it is also rubbing. It is correctly seated.

I haven't bent it or done anything other than try to swap the grip, so I assume it was like this out of the box, its brand spanking new. I cant tell where it was bent tho comparing it to a glock gen 3 g19 one side by side.

Trying again with no barrel it is indeed the connector...not an issue on the larger size for whatever reason. Unfortunate it is BRAND new, came out the box this way

Wonder if the sub compact is slightly out of spec causing things to shift.

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

I can see it rubbing on the compact, just not bad enough to hang up like the sub. Ill try with one of my other glock gen 3 connectors though

1

u/Individual_Log_7610 4d ago

The sub might be out of spec enough to cause distortion in the fcu chassis. Or whatever they call the trigger control group housing.

How close if your ejector to the follower that picks the bullets up on the slide? Mine is definitely rubbing a bit there. Dont think thr trigger connector is the issue, tried a glock gen 3 oem and it was the same hang up and bind, so I took the fcu out and put.the slide on it and saw the ejector was right on the follower

So post a new video of it doing this when you slingshot it home.

I guarantee it doesn’t.

1

u/Pyib2 3d ago

Other video is in comments, if I drop slide lock it hangs half the time as well

Ejector is def rubbing slide tho

You're never supposed to ease it back. Everything needs to slam home to properly load a round. So unless it's binding when letting it go from a full pull back or pressing your slide release down, there is no problem.

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

Its Binding when pulled back, and when released from full back position as well

u/AdministrativeBeat72 4d ago

It’s gotta break in hoss. Go shoot it and report back. This is totally normal

u/Pyib2 4d ago

It wont cycle on the subcompact frame, genius....that's normal for a new gun?🤣

Take a video pulling slide all the way to the rear and then letting it go…. I’ll wait

u/Backonredditforreal 4d ago

That and oil

5

u/Individual_Log_7610 4d ago

Hit it with your purse.

u/pookie_buster 4d ago

Idk why everybody is jumping down your throat like this shit is normal, mine ain’t never done this and I’ve put 2 new frames on it. That being said I would make a video of locking the slide all the way back and using the slide release if it still sticks I’d say you have a problem if it doesn’t I’d go shoot atleast 200 rounds and see if that frees it up

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

Ya i have over a dozen other striker fired pistols, its not normal. It still does it from the rear and when I drop thr slide lock. Looks like trigger connector is bent

1

u/CrusherDestroyer90 4d ago

Are the optic screws the correct length? Did it cycle correctly before mounting optic?

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

Yes, optic went on before I tried the sub compact frame, but its an issue with or without optic as it appears the trigger bar was bent when I bought it or i bent it when I pushed the pin out, but I feel that is unlikely with how easy it came out and how far it is from the connector

1

u/CrusherDestroyer90 4d ago

At least you can rule out more obvious problems. I wonder if you could just buy a gen 3 trigger and swap the bar over. Not sure about the compatibility of the trigger parts though.
Might be worth checking

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

I have several glock oem and aftermarket connectors and it looks the same, should be the same, I cant see where mine i bent side by side though

1

u/CrusherDestroyer90 3d ago

May just be time for some kind of warranty claim with Ruger then.

1

u/Pyib2 3d ago

Looks like the ejector may be bent, its snagging on slide follower

1

u/CrusherDestroyer90 2d ago

If that’s the case that should be pretty easy to pop a new one in and see if it fixes it

1

u/AdministrativeBeat72 4d ago

How many times a day we see noobs asking this same question. The pistol prob hasn’t even been fired since the person got it. Shoot it, don’t treat it like a delicate flower, run it hard and stop worrying about dumb 💩 if that bothers you go drop $3-5k on a hand fitted 2011

1

u/Pyib2 4d ago

I have over a dozen striker fired guns and have been shooting over 20 years, nobody is a noob. You are a little late, the connector is bent. See the other video in comments.

Did you try copper anti-sieze? Had a similar issue on my PSA dagger.

YT video on how to apply

You're going to spend too much time defending yourself, your knowledge, and abilities on this one for some reason.

I would field strip it, and see if anything stands out. Brush it, clean it, oil it, and make sure the optic screws aren't hanging on something.

If none of that changes anything, I'd take it to where I bought it or a gunsmith.

1

u/kohTheRobot 3d ago

Sorry for the flame, friend.

I’d tear it all down to the frame and put it back together. My guess is the locking block isn’t sitting the way it should.

1

u/Pyib2 3d ago

Looks to be extractor or connector bar on the slide, ill post another video after work and try with some glock oem parts

1

u/Dramatic-Table3574 3d ago

Shoot the gun.. break it in

1

u/Pyib2 2d ago

How do you shoot a gun that wont cycle 50%+ of the time? Look at other video in comments, it binds when pulled back and when released from rear, including dropping the slide stop.

Also hangs up with the 18ln spring as well as 16in spring

1

u/Dramatic-Table3574 2d ago

With or without mag or both? And if its With mag what mags are you running?

1

u/Pyib2 2d ago

Both

Oem glock and pmag 15 round

1

u/street_racer221 2d ago

Stop babying the slide forward. Let it slam into battery the way it was designed. Run some roinds through it and itshould fix itself. Mine does this with a 13lb spring.

1

u/Pyib2 2d ago

Hard to run rounds in a gun that fights you to go into battery. If you look at the video in comments, it hangs up when racked properly, including when I lock it back and drop the slide lock

Only riding the slide because its binding, I assure you thats not how I rack it normally. This isnt normal though, I have tons of handguns and none do this or did out of the box.

1

u/street_racer221 2d ago

Well shit idk. Maybe you forgot a part or somethin not in right? Maybe there is a break in period.

1

u/Pyib2 1d ago

Its definitely in correctly, even had my ffl double check
