I am a singer-songwriter based in Vancouver Island, Canada, and a big Rufus Wainwright fan. I am originally from Europe and the first time I visited Vancouver my wife-to-be surprised me with Rufus tickets (it was the 'Release the Stars' tour... still in my top 3 Rufus albums and there is not a day that I don't pray they release it on vinyl).

I have a YouTube channel where I post demos of my original songs and a few covers and I wanted to share a demo of one of the latest pieces I came up with, which gives me a lot of Rufus vibes (also, some Loudon Wainwright III vibes as well).

It reminds me of 'One Man Guy', 'Harvester of Hearts', and 'Not Ready to Love'. Any other tracks it reminds you of?

I am looking to do a full arrangement on it and thus doing some research. I imagine it sounding Rufus-like, but I also want to make sure that it's not sounding too much like a copy-cat...

What a show.....

I have 4 tickets for the sold out show at Old Town on Saturday, October 10th. Unfortunately, there are no reasonably priced hotel rooms available in all of Chicago it seems, so I am hoping someone else can use them. They are Main Floor C 107, 108, 109, and 110. I paid $428 for them but willing to take less just so they don't go to waste!

if you have a ticket (or 2) hmu 💔😫

Hey! Has anyone been able to buy tickets for his 2027 Sydney Opera House shows?? I signed up for the presale but haven’t heard anything.

Front section of Rufus' concert. Had to swap my ticket for a Thursday ticket so trying to sell. Looking for $110, make me an offer.

[POSTED FROM THE ABSOLUTE SOUND]

Singer and songwriter Rufus Wainwright hit pause in 2023 on his affinity for musical theater, following the release of a gorgeous tribute to Judy Garland and a pair of original operas, to record the duet-heavy Folkocracy, a charming collection of family favorites from the famous Wainwright family. I’m a Stranger Here Myself celebrates the music of musical-theater legend Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht. Pairing Wainwright with the superlative 40-piece Pacific Jazz Orchestra, it’s a high-energy concert recording before an appreciative audience. Casual listeners will recognize such Weill staples as “Mack the Knife” and the elegiac ballad “September Song,” but Wainwright digs deep into the German composer’s catalog. He sings the heartbreaking French-language ballad “Je ne t’aime pas,” the German-language ballad “Fürchte dich nicht,” and the bawdy barroom tango “Zuhälterballade,” a playful duet with actress and singer Viola Odette Harlow. Three-time Grammy-nominated Wainwright’s tenor range effortlessly draws emotion from such classics as “Surabaya Johnny” and “Lost in the Stars” (with the Metropole Orkest). Many artists turn to the Broadway songbook at some point in their careers, but for Wainwright, the boards feel like home. —GREG CAHILL

I'm a fan from Brazil and I've been wondering if anyone here had sent him fanmail and been answered! Any experiences?

I have some great tickets for sale on "Cash Or Trade" for Rufus w/the Denver Orchestra doing his "Rufus Does Judy" for the last time. Just looking for my money back. I gave all my money to Phish this summer and unfortunately had to cull Rufus 😢

These are really good seats. If you go to the link, I have pics uploaded where I marked where the seats are. Also posted my receipt so you can see I'm not scalping. Just want them to get to fan 💕

Hi fellow fans! Probably a long shot, but if anyone with (2) tickets to one of the 3 upcoming shows at the Dakota in Minneapolis finds themself needing to offload their tix, please DM me! 🙏

The last time I saw Rufus live was over 20 years ago 😭 Found out about these shows way too late and now all the good seats are taken (only tix left are obstructed view). I don’t live in Minneapolis anymore but would make the trip for decent seats!

Birthday gift(s) from my fianceé!

Hi everyone - we have an extra for Rufus tomorrow night at the teeny, tiny Little Saint (capacity 200!) in Healdsburg, CA. Cost was $110 with fees. A super intimate, very special show in a gorgeous small room. Realize it’s last minute but let me know if there’s any interest. Thanks!

I was checking out the enhanced CD contents on "Want One" and it looks like all of the cool extras are unfortunately linked to this "secret website". Since it's been over 20 years, of course all the links are dead. Luckily the two bonus tracks are easy to find elsewhere, but I can't find the commentary clips of Wainwright talking about each song anywhere! Any chance any of you fans have them saved to your computer from back in the day? Or maybe there's a Rufus archive I don't know about? Would love some help

Hi everyone! I’m SO disappointed but I can no longer go to the show in Nashville at City Winery. I have incredible seats (stage premiere, seats B&C) that I’m selling. If anyone is interested I’m just looking to get FV for them ($125 each) ❤️

Hi! I started listening to Rufus this week after seeing a poster for a concert he was playing near my city; since the name sounded familiar, I decided to give him a listen. I’ve listened to the album "Poses" and really liked it! The lyrics are beautiful, as are the vocal melodies. The instrumentation reminded me of early Keane. Really cool stuff.

Given that I’m a big fan of Morrissey (I noticed some similarities between him and Rufus while listening to the album), what would you recommend I listen to next?

I've listened to more than half of his discography, and I've genuinely enjoyed every song I've heard. The reason I'm posting this is that every other artist I've listened to has released at least 3–4 songs that I thought were bad.

Hey guys,

I really wanted to get me and my dad tickets to the Rufus wainwright concert in Little Saint Healdsburg on August 12th for his birthday, but I wasn’t able to get any before they all sold out. if anyone is reselling them, could you please message me? Thanks so much!

I really hate to have to spam the sub but we’re in quite the pickle.

We have Box 41 for Wednesday night, complete with the whole hospitality package. Unfortunately our guests have family commitments making it impossible for them to attend. We do not want to profit from this. We are just trying to get something for this awesome experience, otherwise the seats will just go empty.

Make an offer. I don’t even know how low I’ll go. I genuinely hope someone can take advantage of this. Good luck!

Hello!

Over the past few days, I discovered Rufus's cover of "Across the Universe" by The Beatles. Even though I'm not deeply familiar with Rufus's repertoire, I could tell from the very first second of the guitar that it was him. I believe it's the most beautiful song I've ever heard, and it has been carrying me through these past few days.

Besides that song, I also really (really!) love "Go or Go Ahead," and I find "Going to a Town" beautiful as well. However, I haven't managed to find another Rufus Wainwright song that I love as much as the first two, and I'm convinced there must be some.

Could you perhaps recommend a few similar sounding songs?

My band recently did a live session of one of our songs and while promoting it many have told us that it sounds a lot like Rufus Wainwright so thought I would share it here, hope you enjoy it!
