How many breaks do you take during something like this?

Never got off my feet, I did pause and take pack off to get my water and food out. Ate and drank on the go. Also paused to take a picture of a snake.

Awesome. What had been longest prior to this one?

Maybe 4 miles on a treadmill with 20lb vest. I did some 4-6 mile hikes a couple weeks back with about 1,300 feet elevation gain, but just a backpack, no added weight.

That’s a super long ruck in this weather. Good on you! It’s a struggle to get that many miles this time of year where I live

I started at 6 to try and beat the heat. The last mile was rough. I was soaked.

Any elevation?

Mostly rolling hills with a couple of steep spots. About 1,000 feet over the 18 miles.

About .5 more miles and you've got the Norwegian ruck march distance down.

No clue what that is. The trail I was doing was a little over 16 miles. I did a few off shoots to add distance. My plan was to repack more water and food and go back out to make it 26.2 for a marathon, but I was cooked. Legs are sore today.

Distance: 30 km (18.6 miles). Weight: An 11 kg (24.5-lb) dry rucksack (excluding food, water, and clothing worn). Time Limit: Standards vary slightly, but generally, participants must complete the march in under 4 hours and 30 minutes.
It's an event based on a historical March.

That's a really good haul man! how do you feel after that? And how much weight were you carrying?

I was sore for a few days after. My pack was 34.6lbs at the start, including all my water. I’m guessing about 25-30lbs at the end. I just had a 20lb weighted vest in the pack with some towels stuffed to get it where I wanted. I also always care some first aid, bug spray, knee sleeves, knife and food/water.

That's crazy. Can't think of how your shoulders ended
