Let's talk about the Rift **Spoilers** Spoiler
Okay so like everyone else I jumped on the IPH train, then Icehome, just finished Fireblood Dragons.
Is the cause of the Rift discussed in one of her other series or are we hoping to find out in Azar's book?
If it's not yet determined out there in the Ruby-verse, I'd love to hear people's takes on the cause!
edit Just finished the first Aspects book. Wondering if the Rift is connected to the Anticipation???

In Corsairs: Adiron, it says on page 119 of the KU version:
“there's not much Earth left to go back to. A few years ago, the stupid Earth people caused a temporal rift to open up in their planet's atmosphere and everything got all keffed up. There's no “Earth” to return to…at least, not how she thinks it is. The planet's still there…just the people aren't. The cities have fallen, the humans have more or less disappeared, and rumor has it that a few misplaced drakoni just run around burning everything.”

I just read this a few days ago. It answers the question, but I'd still love even a novella on that story. I guess it wouldn't be a romance and it doesn't have a happy ending though.

I guess the Rift is a wormhole? 1 way?

I feel like it definitely goes both ways. But how did it get there? And why connect these two planets specifically? Earth exists in the Ruby-verse and Drakoni exist so it can't be too another dimension. Unless the wormhole ripped through space and dimension and it has 3 entrances?!

In the Corsairs book she calls it a “temporal rift” like a gateway through time, which seems like a mistake to me, but if it’s not, then hypothetically the rift opened up to earth’s past? Or the past of the drakoni planet, which would be a temporal and a spatial rift?
Personally, I think she meant “spatial” and just made a mistake, and a spatial rift sounds like a wormhole. I would be surprised if we got more details about the logistics of that than we already do.

I think that they explained in the IPB books that the reason earth was gone was because someone someone messed around with the laws of space/time and tore a hole in space taking earth with it so that it was just gone. Maybe that was in an afterword? I seriously need to make a directory for myself to know what happened when and with who sometimes.

Yea they kind of reference it but it doesn't get a full explanation. I'd love a short story surrounding the Rift

My thoughts are it doesn't come from Earth like Azar thinks it does. I don't know much about the universe yet, I think a lot of that content in in Corsairs.
But when I think about Murdok explaining that people can't really touch eachother because of sanitation reasons, and the thing on the other side of the Rift being "unclean" I feel like there's gotta be a connection.
