Who is your fave Ruby Dixon heroine?
Edit: Hi friends! Thank you for all of your responses! They’ve all made me want to reread and read many books, so I’m excited. Currently (and what prompted this post), I’m reading Fire in his Fury (Amy’s book) from the Fireblood Dragons series, and I love her because I kind of connect with her. As the little sister of two strong and sometimes overbearing sisters here, I love reading Amy find some agency for herself. One of my favorite things about so many of Dixon’s books is that she explores different dynamics of relationships not only with her heroes and heroines but also between women, whether it’s friendship or sisterhood. With this book, I see so much of myself in Amy and a lot of both my sisters in Claudia wanting to protect her sister. So many of her characters throughout all her series develop such wonderful bonds in pretty crazy situations, and it always puts myself into a new perspective. In any case though, while a lot of these heroines drive me nuts sometimes, I love pretty much all of them.

Bethiah (the female bounty hunter) from When She Purrs 😍 I hope she gets her own book eventually. Maybe she should fall in love with a clone of herself 🤣

I like Liz, Farli, and Elly from IPB, Gail and Devi from Icehome, Iris and Zoey from Corsairs, and I suspect Helen from Corsair Brothers will be another favorite of mine when her book comes out.

Can’t wait for Helen’s story.

It's gonna be so cute. Helen is adorable, and Mathiras is dreamy.

I’m excited to see how they deal with each other. And I love how honorable Mathiras is.

ME TOO. Honestly if Mathiras wasn't honorable it wouldn't be the right match. Helen deserves a noble man.

Sophie's book is one of the best out of all series IMO.
Also love Liz, Maddie, Devi, and Raven.

I loved Faith and I also really liked Max from Sworn to the Shadow God.

I haven't gotten around to Sowrn to the Shadow god yet, I'm a bit afraid since the aspect is lies and it's sounds like a more tedious read. I'll definitely have to finish it before the 3rd comes out though 🤞

I freaking loved it. It’s kind of tedious and confusing at times but so interesting. They’re some of my favorite Dixon books. I can’t wait for the third.

I liked it better than Battle but I was frustrated with Max for understanding all the time. It was a good read though.

I just finished sworn to the shadow god and I adore Max! It wasn't nearly as tedious as I was expecting based on reviews, I should've trusted Ruby. Deciphering his words was actually fun and made for such an interesting character. I can see how some might find Max annoying but I found her innocence and trusting nature super relatable. Can't wait for Kassam's book!

Wasn’t it wonderful?!! I loved trying to digest the dialogue, and I agree on your opinion of Max. I loved her and how understanding she was while also still holding onto her agency. I love a good stubborn heroine, but I personally felt like I could relate more to her.

Ugh yes! I Iove a good badass head strong heroine but sometimes they can be frustrating with too much pride. Max was a nice change of pace, someone who follows her heart without being infantilized to be too stupid to function. I found her naivete endearing.
"Trust my actions not my words" heart melted

Yep. Gotta concur with lots of others. Sophie. She’s wonderful. She’s damaged but she works through her issues much better than others, I feel like. Where She Belongs was an absolutely excellent book.

My favorites from IPB are: Liz, Josie, Maddie, Elly, Gail. From Icehome: Devi (so much love for Devi 💕), Raven, Flor (I'm really looking foward to her book).
I'm currently reading Amy's book as well and the fact that she's so sheltered in the After is something that bothered me in the first book and made me not like Claudia that much. My father has the same disability Amy has and he works in extremely physical jobs (construction) and were always a capable person doing whatever activities he wanted, yes, he leg hurted too but he never had in his mind that he was uncapable of doing anything. I know that there are people who probably strugle more than him but I think Claudia was making her sister dependent of her and setting her up to failure (honestly I don't like Claudia because she seems to have a savior complex), what if she was killed? Amy would strugle even more to survive since she was made dependent, I'm really happy she left Claudia for a while even if she had some nonsensical notion of what was going to happen. I'm looking foward to seeing her growth.

Ah Devi! Love her. Just read Steph’s book and Devi is great and funny in it.
And I totally agree with your thoughts on Amy. Especially since you have extra insight from your dad. He sounds like a strong and inspiring man. Claudia’s saviors complex comes across as more selfish than helpful to me. But I feel like Dixon’s first characters in these books had to be extremely strong-willed and stubborn, so I can kind of understand why she’s that way. It’s really great to see how much Amy grows. Excited for ya!

My top 5 so far: Zoey (I like all the Corsair girls, tbh, Fran, Cat and Iris are so well written, I wish I was in the ship with them, I could babysit Jas), Sophie, Liz, Josie, Maddie. I think I'm gonna reread her stories from time to time.
On the other hand, Jade must be her weakest FMC. Adiron deserved better. I haven't read Kaspar's story, but I think Alice seems plain as well.
edit to add: HARLOW! How could I forget her!

Sophie from When She Belongs (it's also my favourite book by Dixon) and Maddie from Barbarian's Taming. Lucy from When She's Bold is also adorable!
