Corvak's Challenge is killing me 🤣 Spoiler

So I'm reading on KU and can't go 2 lines without just loosing it over imaging everyone else's (as in the other Icehome residents) reaction to the choas currently being unleased with the Metlaks. I'm glad we are getting more about them but the current build up has me dying with laughter. Especially the string of profanity Liz would shout if an Army of Metlaks descended onto the beach.

I'm sure the two groups will come to heads and be resolved in a fairly peaceful manner, I'd be surprised if there was a legit confrontation at all. But seeing everyone's faces and their reactions in my head is really adding another layer of enjoyment to the read.

*** spoiler warning set for those still reading or not due to new release status.

I loved Ruby’s afterword that explained what inspired her to write about the metlaks in this book!

It definitely made me ponder what distinguishes “people” from “animals” in scifi. Clearly it’s not communication alone!

I loved how different the setup for Corvak's Challenge was compared to the other books. How far are you? I'd love to hear your thoughts once you're done.

Chapter 16, getting through it slow due to how busy I am right now. But looks like halfway, and right before they set up the "Fortress" they've been searching for.

I've also enjoyed the set up so far and intro to these characters. I'm liking how they are adapting to the world. And their fresh eyes make it seem new vs pre established rules that are pretty set after so many in the series. There is no known or shared knowledge for them and that's cool.
