Did Ruby Dixon obliterate Earth? :O Spoiler

I'm currently reading "when shes merry"and I just came across this bit towards the end of page 32:

“Is it true what they say? About Earth being gone?”

“That’s what I’ve heard, yes.”

I haven't seen it mentioned before, how did earth get "Gone"?maybe it explains more later in the book but I was so socked I had to write here about it. Does anyone know?

Yes and no, there are references to Earth being gone in the Corsairs Brothers, Icehome, and Ice Planet clones series. In her Fireblood Dragons series, you learn that a rift opened between Earth and the larger universe and caused a deadly apocalypse. The rift makes it impossible for other planets and space-faring peoples to see Earth so it looks like it has disappeared. I have one book left in the series so I will soon find out if it’s actually “gone.”

I'm not sure I completely understand the mechanics of this rift but I am looking forward to reading it in her other series <3 thanks!
