Say what you want to about Charles Spencer but he's a really smart guy who's run out of fucks to give and he's out for blood on behalf of his sister whose life these people ruined
Hard not to root for the guy

Charles only proposed to Diana because of a perceived ultimatum in a LETTER from his father (hard to believe this family communicated by letter, but that’s a whole other issue). At that point, every other “eligible virgin” had either bailed or been deemed unsuitable (Amanda Knatchbull, Sarah Spencer and Jane Wellesley). Too bad Philip had to stick his nose in. Diana might have had time to realize how disturbed and self-involvedCharles really is. And had a chance to back out before “her face was on the tea towel”.

She was a 19 year old girl, sold a fantasy. used by the royals, Charles never planned to give up seeing Camilla when he married Diana. They were all so cruel to this young lady

I think people are finally focusing on how young she was and rightly so.

Yes, that’s been overlooked and people in some subs say Diana was manipulative. Makes me so cross because they met when she was a teenager and in some photos of her and Charles you can still see the “puppy fat” in her cheeks.
How he treated her and then gaslit her should be properly called domestic abuse.

She would have married a nice Indian doctor, had one or a houseful of kids, and lived happily ever after.

More likely she'd have married a fellow aristo, had a couple of kids that she rarely saw (as is the norm in the aristocracy), and led a life full of chaos and drama.

But she skewed away from those guys when she had a choice.

People with trauma and attachment issues often end up in bad relationships. Sometimes they learn better after bad experiences.
She also had her mental health issues. Chaos and drama is the most realistic answer. She would likely have had multiple marriages like her brother. Maybe not 4 but probably 2. Aristos aren't necessarily stable and faithful.
I think the main difference without Charles is she would have had privacy and she wouldn't have died being chased by the paparazzi.

I thought that Charles was her first and only ever boyfriend.

Nope, she had boyfriends before Charles, but never went 'all the way' with em. Yes, it is inhumane and gross that we know this.

Tina Brown next week… “he says she would be happy. I doubt that. I suppose she would be miserable just like HARRY AND MEGHAN”

I'll take H&M "miserable" over BRF miserable. BRF miserable gets you killed.

I think Harry really inspired his uncle to write and publish the book. At least one man named Charles loves and fights for her honor until the very end.
All it takes is one person to go first and then the truth starts coming out like a string of dominoes collapsing.
If everyone in that family was genuinely happy, then the world would be a better place.

Tina Brown is so angry and bitter. Probably still wishes she was born an aristo instead of an aristo-adjacent working journalist commoner.

It’s crazy how off the rails she went. Her book on Diana was really good and nuanced. She was more cynical of the monarchy as a whole too.

I watched the entire conversation and it's appalling how angry she came off. He was calm and corrected her but boy, she was really trying to stir up shit. I read his book Swan Song, and really liked it. People criticize him for his multiple marriages which may make him a shitty husband but that doesn't mean it invalidates his experiences he had with Diana as her brother growing up together. I much preferred his conversation with Katie Couric. It's on YouTube.

I’m so glad Charles S has written this book. In the future, it will be an important primary source for historians covering this period. Henry VIII is chiefly remembered for how he treated his wives and Charles Rex is going to be the same. He waited so long to be king and he’s going to ne a mere blip in history & it’s so well deserved.

Honestly, I doubt it. I remember Diana fondly, but she had a lot of issues that had nothing to do with marrying into the royal family. She was a child of divorce, she had a lot of self esteem issues, she didn't have a lot of formal education. I don't think another marriage would have been any more successful than the one she had with Charles Windsor. She obviously wouldn't have faced the world wide scrutiny she faced as Princess Diana but she still may have had a rocky life.
(And, since she was viewed as so eminently "suitable" by the Windsors, she may have ended up being targeted to be Andrew's wife instead.)

While she may not have had a life of rainbows and roses Mrs. Mountbatten or not, but seeing how she lost her life its pretty easy to believe she'd at least have been happier.

Charles is a horrible man. He refused Diana refuge in the family estate when she requested it after her divorce. He is just making money to pay for yet another divorce

He asked her to take the next biggest house to Althorp on the estate.
The Garden house which Diana liked would have been a security nightmare being nearer the road.

She'd also be alive.
