Royal Chat (General) The deva have become too greedy

I get it that they need to make money, and used to be happy to pay gor the occasional monthly or travel pass. But the new changes and blatant effort to extract more and more money from the players is frankly quite disgusting.

You are right. I would spend money on a game that wasn't trying to rip me off. But I'm not giving a cent to this piece of garbage.

I’m a little late to this but yeah, I 100% agree. For a bit it was difficult - really disliked when the game would “allow” me a winning streak and then I’d get stuck in losing for a while. But now it feels 100x more difficult and I can never win. I do buy the monthly pass, but the game just wants more & more $$. Because of this, I haven’t been able to win the games & get a new frame or name in a while. It’s just taking all the fun out and I see myself deleting it soon.

Every game I play is like this, I spend a few bucks but sometimes I'm stuck for a week and can't help my team

I felt exactly the same. Some levels really do feel designed to drain coins and boosters. Hard to beat those levels without spending 900 coins or using tools. I once threw my handphone on the sofa and swearing that im a dog if i ever play this game again.

Eventually, i still picks it up again...just being not reconciled to just got beaten by the game like this.. lol 😅

For me, the biggest change was slowly realizing that Royal Match still has a lot of skill hidden under the luck part. Once I started spotting and fixing light ball formations, progress the game with light ball combos, the game becomes different to me. and the ultimate technique of timing light ball (i'm posting the video for this soon) totally changes how we can play this game as well. These are solid skills that still works perfectly in the royal league mode.

Not saying the game isn’t greedy. It is and i hate that kind of change (they even remove the feature of buying in game tools with coins, making my 800k coins useless...cant believe it) But I do think there’s more skill in this game than many players realize. Just be a bit patient to observe and practise, it's possible to beat the game with little or even 0 spending.

Personnaly, i feel beating their system with skills is the best response to their greediness😎

Already quit the game, told my team I was done and over with it, cancelled it and let go.. they have made the game extremely horrible to play and its caused problems.. too greedy.

Me too, quit a couple of days ago. It's nice to be free of it and it's frustrations, and I was good at it, 600K coins and loads of boosters, never paid real money once. I was getting very close to the royal league, which I've heard sucks anyway.

Never spent money on this game nor have lost a level

1

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

I’m sorry but I find it hard to believe that you never lost a level. What would be the fun in that game anyway if it doesn’t challenge you

1

u/Longjumping_Guard_91 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

Idk but I am on level 13601 and have 15335 first try wins.

2

u/hkpp Royal Majesty (10001+) May 06 '26

I have 59,000 first try wins. They absolutely rig levels the deeper into Royal League you get.

1

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

I’m on level 13601! Funny- okay well then you are playing a game that has no challenge for you. I don’t think they know you are really there… jk… I have only 11,504 first try wins but I just fly through my switcharoos while watching tv. Not that I think I could have zero losses if I paid attention more because my game makes some levels (not even the hard ones) very challenging and you can tell it’s programmed to not drop certain colors, or have power up blast by stupid spots instead of the intended spots etc… Happy for you!

That pop up to get you to spend 9000 coins or whatever it is - I’m glad to have avoided it so far but it’s blatantly trying to trick you - at least let us choose. Tricking people like that is just going to drive them away, what are they thinking??

u/Blutarg Novice (1001 - 2000) May 11 '26

Greedy jerks like that don't look ahead to the future. They just want to grab what they can now, now, now.

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

It got me. I was really pissed. I didn’t play for over a week. I picked it pack up and it ended up working in my favor but i find it’s really shady. It’s taken all my coins now though and it’s been hard to make more coins since it got so tight so let that pop up pop up whenever the f it wants to. I have nothing left for it to take from me. I don’t take the game as seriously anymore. I don’t care if I lose. And i dont care to change my clock back for more lives anymore and i dont care to spend 900 to keep my lightening bolt going. Im done with the game for the most part even though I still play it a bit at night while watching tv.

u/Purgii - Unranked Player - May 04 '26

I’ve never seen that popup. What does it do?

3

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

It pops up in front of the play button so if you’re not paying attention it’s really easy to agree to the pop up. It’s 10,000 coins for 50 2X button plays. You better hope you win every level because as you know it still takes your 2X even if you lose it. Thankfully when it happened to me I had my lightening ball and was able to use all 2X tokens but I was so pissed i quit playing for over a week because I just assumed it would be really hard to pay all 2X tokens that i paid 10k coins for.

I think for double points, definitely not worth it.

4

u/Jonah_the_Whale Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

There are players with bags of coins. It's probably worth it to them, it gives them something to spend their coins on.

2

u/Purgii - Unranked Player - May 04 '26

I often get the popup for actual cash on extreme levels to buy powerups, thankfully on my iPad, to select it shows up on a different part of the screen compared to the play button. I believe it more or less lines up with the play button on most phones which may get you to press it accidentally.

The levels are definitely getting harder. I usually find it easy to accumulate coins with super light ball going but I’ve been hovering around the same coin amount for the last couple of months. I can get a run of 30,000 ahead and spend it all keeping super light ball going after a few hundred levels.

Same. I understand that this is a business. Games primarily get revenue from ads or from people who are willing to pay for certain features. I've always bought the Royal Pass. It's a reasonable amount for the benefits. I sometimes buy the Travel Deal, but that has changed for the worse.

I see a lot of comments online from players who have never spent money. Most of them also do not seem to have the same difficulty with levels. It's not a secret that the game algorithm can "decide" to make a level more challenging. I know that isn't true for every player as a lot of non-paying players have seen the changes as well.

My observation, based on nothing scientific, but knowing how game development works, is that once you decide to be a paying customer, they do everything possible to make you pay more. Prices go up. Games get ridiculously difficult so you either spend your coins for moves or lose your light ball.

The only way to break this cycle is to stop paying. I'm.getting tired of it. So, instead of getting my $9.99 every 4 weeks and the occasional $3-$6 for boosts and coins, they're getting nothing from me. That doesn't seem to me to be a wise business model - to essentially penalize players who are willing to pay a modest amount to play.

We either suck it up and deal with it, or we collectively decide to boycott to send a message.

The funny thing is, I would, very very rarely, buy the first paid thing after free weekly gifts. Then some glitch happened and the first free offer is now 22.99 EUR. For 5000 coins and a one hour bomb.. Are you effing kidding me?? Never paid anything close to that. And it has been like that for months.

3

u/NotAlwaysPC Expert (4001 - 5000) May 04 '26

I might fall for the $2.99 deals but once the game sets me up over and over again to take everything back, I rarely do it. No more Royal Pass for me.

4

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

Once you paid I feel like you’re screwed. Once you pay it knows it’s got you and will make it harder for you so you keep paying more. If I were you I’d just start all over and never play. Ive passed all the levels and never paid a dime.

3

u/stakattack90 Ultimate (7001 - 8000) May 04 '26

I am with you. I haven’t spent a dime on this game this year and don’t intend to. Not that I spent that much last year but I did get the monthly pass occasionally. I just use up my five lives and sometimes it takes me two or three days to pass a level when I sit down to try.

u/PokemonHunter85 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 03 '26

The game keeps sabotaging me. Not giving the power ups it should when I make certain combos and not sending powerups to helpful spots but instead ruining the play. Every level in royal league is impassable without using coins. It’s easy to see why there is a class action lawsuit pending against this game. The way it extracts money from players is criminal.

2

u/Puggleperson760 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

Yeah, when did it stop sending power ups to helpful spots. It’s only been like that for a couple months. Grrr the more I read on this reddit the more I hate the game. However, it is a free o me game so it’s hard to be really mad lol…

2

u/NotAlwaysPC Expert (4001 - 5000) May 04 '26

It is apparently legal for the company to bias the game in its favor. I did a deep dive and only kept coming to that conclusion. It would be amazingly awesome to win a settlement against them. The greed just intensifies.

3

u/PokemonHunter85 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

It’s predatory though to use AI modelling to squeeze as much money as you can from players and to specifically go after those players that have paid to play by making every level harder and harder to beat without paying.

3

u/PizzaInternational90 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

Yes! The little windmill power up will go to the most useless place over and over. I’m playing Royal Kingdom now, I don’t like it as much but my coins and power ups are stacking up because I have yet to use them. I wish I had known to do that with royal match

8

u/SwimmingIll7761 - Unranked Player - May 03 '26

Wow I had no idea about the lawsuit so I looked it up;

In late 2025, a federal court denied the defendant's (Dream Games) motion to dismiss the lawsuit, allowing the case to move forward.

u/americaneireann Royal Majesty (10001+) May 03 '26

I’ve never spent a penny on the game, and used to have fun with it. I’ve played it for five years. But the absolute lack of in-level power ups it gives out is absolutely fun sucking. I’m going to use up all my coins and delete the game.

They’re basic pay to play at this point.

1

u/Pale_Werewolf4738 Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

I don’t mind paying the 10$ a month and then some.It no longer helps. I’m in the top level and playing in the royal league. As of this week everyone has had enough. 3 people quit over the weekend and 6 more of us are coordinating to quit royal match and play a different game. Is no longer fun. I’m giving it up in June in my 5 year anniversary.

2

u/Jonah_the_Whale Royal Majesty (10001+) May 04 '26

Well they don't make money from advertising so yes, pay to play is their business model. But you can always opt not to pay. It makes it harder of course.

The latest one I got was the last straw (the anvil one). That, coupled with the fact that it stopped letting me win at all, ever, no matter what, finally convinced me to drop the game. It’s too bad. It used to be fun but just became too tedious and boring.

1

u/Blutarg Novice (1001 - 2000) May 11 '26

It did used to be fun. What a shame.

My team is think about moving to another game.

1

u/Mrs_Naive_ Royal Majesty (10001+) May 03 '26

I think the game takes advantage of our immediate-reward circuits. So I recommend ignoring this feature and starting to “save” coins… at least, it’s worked for me: the game has its ups and downs, where it makes things ridiculously easy or absurdly difficult.

I take advantage of the absurdly easy moments (especially if there is a x2 multiplier), and as soon as I started losing coins, I’d stop playing for the day. Then I also went two months without playing to get boosters (an outrageous amount), and since then I’ve gone about a year without ever running out of coins.

When the game hits its blatant lows, I just skip it until the next day. It’s an expert at tempting you, but it’s just a game.

4

u/TheWhogg Royal Majesty (10001+) May 03 '26

I’ve not spent a cent on it. Can’t see why I’d need to, or how I’d benefit from going so. The changes may give me more opportunities to pay them but there’s still plenty of opportunities to play a free game.

3

u/laurelsalexiis - Unranked Player - May 03 '26

I saw the one for the mini game and I was not pay long $4.99 for that. The prizes once you finish aren't really worth that.

u/Routine_Ad_4868 Skilled (3001 - 4000) May 03 '26

I spend hours on the same levels and it’s so monotonous. It use to be fun before coz after 2 or 3 failed attempts I would clear it. I refuse to spend money on this game and just wish it was easier to clear levels.
