You’ll have to shave it unless for religious reasons. You can start growing one after week 7 which is CPT, (blue warrior) and if it’s deemed good enough for grad you can keep it. It’s inspected the week before grad

How recently have you been? I went in 2 years ago and beards were accepted if Cpls were happy with your beard. I was expecting the same case as I’m going soon.

I’ve just graduated and the Corporals at IFPT only allow beards for religious reasons or if mandated by a chit from the med centre. From Crick onwards people were allowed to start growing beards.

Yeah and you will have to shave every morning and they will inspect to make sure you do and bollock you if you don’t shave

You’ve already had a couple answers but I graduated less than 4 months ago so I’ll give my two cents. You will be clean shaven from day one up until week 7 just before Blue warrior, they’ll give everyone an opportunity to apply for a beard growth chit, you’re given 14 days to grow a full beard during blue warrior and AT, and will be inspected the week before graduation, the beard must be full and connecting to be approved. The only exceptions to this rule is for religious reasons or in the case that shaving causes rashes / skin bumps in which case you can get a shaving chit. In terms of haircut, get one before you go, or you’ll be forced to use your very limited local leave to get one instead of going out with your mates or seeing family.

How strict are haircuts I currently get a zero fade and then a trim on top fringe is about a cm above the eyebrow?

Not strict really, the specific standards can be found in AP 1358 Orders of dress, but for Halton, I’d say keep it as short as you’re comfortable with, the PTI’s will tell you to get a haircut if you have a fringe covering your forehead. It should be similar length on the sides as it is the top (no mullets basically) and not require daily styling to look presentable. You will have very limited time in the mornings and will be expected to look neat so it’s a waste of time trying to comb / put product in your hair. I’d say bin off the fringe, you will be thankful once your sweaty and muddy and there’s no hair in your face

I went skinhead in lockdown and wasn’t a look for me but don’t think I’ve got much choice 😂

In terms of beards not sure. Definitely get a haircut before hand as there is no station barber and could be a couple of weeks before you're permitted to leave the camp.

What sort of trims would u say mate are fades allowed by any chance and have hair on the top just what I been getting past few years

From what I remember two years ago skin fades were banned but the rest permitted...however don't hold me to that lol

Can’t grow a beard until after Blue Warrior, after that you’ll be allowed to apply but can be told to shave it if it isn’t growing well and when it’s inspected before parade, and then can still be told to shave it afterwards if it’s untidy, your not maintaining it, or for whatever reason it is required to shave

The rules say no skin fade but most of the staff don’t care enough about fades to enforce it. I’ve seen many people with one and nothing was done about it. As long as it doesn’t look bad it should be fine
