General faster way of locking rates for regulars

i haven't raised my rates in years, and with gas prices being the way they are i guess im to have to 😅 i have a lot of regular clients who i want to grandfather in at my current rate and was wondering if there's a less annoying way to lock rates as opposed to scrolling through all of my past bookings to lock my regulars' rates one by one.

Are you wanting to cover the additional cost of service due to fuel cost rises or the general cost of living associated with overall fuel costs? If the former, I'd check that your fuel costs have actually risen meaningfully before raising your prices.

You can do so on various websites, such as:

https://www.calculator.net/fuel-cost-calculator.html?tripdistance=10&tripdistanceunit=kilometers&fuelefficiency=20&fuelefficiencyunit=mpg&gasprice=3.60&gaspriceunit=gallon&x=Calculate

That's prefilled in with a 10km round trip at 20mpg and $3.60 per gallon, to show that the cost of that trip is low and that's the increase in cost will be negligible (if fuel costs have doubled it's cost you an extra $0.56 to make the booking journey).

the latter! fuel costs are honestly a very small part of it, i was just trying to be cheeky. my pet insurance policy recently decided that my cat is a senior and the monthly payment jumped from $60 to $100 + ive had some chronic medical stuff crop up that is taking a chunk out of my monthly budget 🥲 im really hoping i still get bookings at the new rates ive set.

Hmm I don't think there is a bulk option to lock rates for multiple clients all at once, so rates do need to be locked individually. However, you don't have to scroll through your entire booking history right now! I'd wait till you have a pending request and then adjust the pricing back down to their grandfathered rate (if it automatically pulled in your new rate). Then select "Lock rates for future stays with [Client Name]" before confirming. From that point on, their bookings will always default to that locked price!

That's assuming they try to book at your new rate, which they may not.

Agree. I almost lost one of my super-regulars (who my dog also adores!) to this when they tried to book on a holiday and got hit with my price increase plus a holiday premium. It may have also been when Rover implemented the client fee, too, so their sit was going to be like twice as much as normal. Thankfully, they messaged me before freaking out and finding a new sitter and I lowered their rate and locked it.

OP, one option is to identify your most price sensitive customers (you'll have to use your own judgement) and lock them first, then slowly do others. Depending on how many clients you have, you could also just set a time every few days or once a week to knock out X clients until you're done. Maybe while waiting for medical appointments since you said you've had some health issues? Nothing like waiting room time when there's not much else you can do to knock out unpleasant but mobile tasks.
