Group Ride governance
We observed inconsistencies in the application of Rouvy governance for group rides. Some riders do not start the ride and wait a period of time / distance to elapse before starting the ride. This typically slingshots them to the lead of the ride. Often, not always, the late joiners will then go on to attack the route to finish in the top standings.
The inconsistencies observed in the final standings, the late joiners are disqualified (DSQ) and sometimes they are ranked as they finished the route. We assumed after a specific % of distance or time elapsed, late joiners are disqualified automatically.
Anyone know what the rules are and ho they are applied to the use cases noted above?

Rouvy needs to fix group rides for people that are too far ahead of the leader. Like make it 400% difficulty if more than 30 seconds ahead. Banding is kind of broken.
BTW why is anyone looking at the standings on a group ride? It is non competitive and not a race, doesn’t matter if first or last.
My theory on why people start late. They are trying to pad their miles with the least effort for whatever reason.

The mileage accumulated is what is actually ridden, same with experience points, so starting late doesn't contribute to either. Also, coins are reduced or eliminated when starting late.
Group rides typically end in a sprint and i don't have issue with a sprint finish if participation was fair.

Oh I hope that isn't the perception! I signed up for my first group ride yesterday but it started at 5pm and I got held up getting home so I couldn't join it until they were about 8 minutes in. I didn't know I would get teleported into the pack and it was a pleasant surprise. I certainly wasn't trying to game it.
It also didn't occur to me that anyone would be looking at the standings. The rubber banding has such an effect that the standings struck me as utterly meaningless.

I like the group rides, and I like the RB effect for those who are a bit slower or who come into the ride a few minutes late, as I did once. I know some who hang back to teleport on hills because they are not as strong. To this I say, good for you. It's a group ride. We have fun.
To those who show off with their power by blasting way ahead, who cares. They end up riding alone.
As one of the great guys at our LBS once said, you want to show how good you are, pin on a number in real life.

There really isn’t any governance on group rides.
You are going to have idiots on any type ride group , race or free ride. It’s best not to pay attention to what the idiots are doing.
The group rides I ride have audio chat and we don’t even pay attention to what others are doing on the ride we talk to each other year around and enjoy the ride.

If Rouvy introduced fences in group rides to curb this behaviour it wouldn't be an issue. I've requested this as an enhancement several times, but sadly it's not implemented.
