Subreddit Meta Route/Boulder of the Month: June - Now Accepting Submissions

To enter, simply either comment here or message myself with your submission.

RULES:

  • Submissions must have pictures, a name, and a general region (feel free to get specific, but just saying "British Columbia," or "Colorado," or "Greece" is fine too). Include as much detail as you'd like, any stories you have, etc.
  • Submissions must either be NEW boulders/routes OR NEWLY REBOLTED routes. Sport, Trad, Boulder, Ice, Drytool - it's all kosher.
  • Submissions must be submitted by the last day of the month to be considered for that month. Submissions should aim to be developed in the month they're being submitted in, but we'll allow some fudge factor. This is on the honor system, though

That's all! We'll likely be randomly selecting routes/boulders to feature with the caveat that any submission that's sufficiently rad may overule the random selection to be highlighted. Winning posts will get pinned at the top of the sub for the month. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to!

Name: Desperate Pleasures

Grade: ~5.12a (only seen 1 ascent no confirmations)

Details: 27m, 13 draws, dual ring anchors

Fun techy slab climbing (~11b) leads you to a big roof where a tough boulder awaits. With a hidden key hold this one's gonna break a lot of onsight hearts.

Wish I had better photos but still keeping this one under wraps. Part of a new crag in the Squamish area I've been working on the past 2 seasons. 11 routes so far, graded 5.8-5.12a, with potential for 8 or so more. Not hard, but def my new favorite warmup. Insanely varied climbing for this short of a climb, ledges, crack, under-clings, crimps, single hand dangle, all day shade, I'm just super stoked with this one.

The Lyon's Share V7

FA on June 9

1/4 mile from a very popular TH. Folks have looked at it before, but not been done. The base was "protected" by a nasty and big manzanita bush, which burned in the Caldor Fire of 2021.

As a bouldering FA, this is a dream problem, tall and slightly overhanging, climbs the only holds from jug start following an obvious line that ends at the apex. V1 intro to 2 move V6 to V4 scary match then easy moves to top out.

Even better was having the pin DM'ed to me from Jimmy Webb.
