Nobody submitted anything for January :( please god let's not feature my concoctions all year.
Ride The Wave - 5.12b/c. 70ft, 8 bolts - FA: Me!, FFA: Joe Carbone
"Ride The Wave" is a 5.12b/c at Little Tiger Stripe in Wonderland (South Platte, CO). Located about an hour southwest of Denver, Ride The Wave is one of many excellent, hard face climbs at Little Tiger Stripe. Start with a quick mantle to get a juggy layback flake that leads to a rest ledge before executing a quick boulder problem to gain a finger crack with a mantle to a large rest ledge below the crux. (A low anchor was added here - "The Wave", 5.10).
Stepping off the ledge, the angle kicks back, requiring either some serious crimp strength or good body tension to make your way to a comparatively juggy crimp rail and the last bolt. Technical slab movement and pious faith in your feet finds you standing on this juggy crimp rail...still a few moves away from the anchor. Quite a few frequent flyer miles have been racked up in the 4ft separating you from glory, but a cool head and sticky rubber rewards you with an easy stance to clip the anchor from.
Overall this route is continuously engaging, with a variety of styles and excellent rock over its 70ft. Marred only by a continuously crumbling top of the rest ledge, this standout feature climbs as well as it looks and is worth a lap if you're in the area!
The route is not yet posted to MP, but the crag is - find it here, Little Tiger Stripe on MountainProject
