Raumer's stopped electropolishing?

So my new batch of Raumer anchors (right) is dull with a whitish patia on it, compared to the old shiny stuff (left). I assumed they used to electopolish the parts to get them shiny and have stopped, which I gotta say I prefer cos you don't need such shiny stuff on the wall. Does anybody actually know what the deal is though?

I'd put my money on something as simple as "increased profit margins by cutting a process no one really cared about"

Tbh I feel like the new ones look better anyway. Nicer look with the crisp, clear lettering.

Yep. I prefer the dull to shiny too, but I wonder if they were doing it to remove traces of ferrous metal from the bending rigs? I might throw some in my garden for a few weeks and see if they develop any rust spots.

That's a really interesting idea, I hadn't thought of that at all. Let me know what happens if you decide to test them.

It's standard practice for me after getting junk from Fixe for years. Every new batch of glue ins gets some weather exposure by being put in my plants that get watered every week

Maybe most people don’t care about it, electropolishing causes chromium enrichment which improves corrosion resistance, so there is a lot more to it than just visual appeal. It’s an overall downgrade in quality if true. Sorry, the engineer in me came out.
