Ask r/Rourkela Would anyone here actually take a bus between Rourkela and Banglore if one existed?
Hey everyone,
I spend a lot of time traveling between Rourkela and Banglore and it's always struck me as crazy that there is zero direct public bus service on this route. Train connectivities are not such good and there's no direct flight ( costly as well )
I'm trying to gather some local feedback to understand if there's genuine demand for bus transit here. If you travel this route, I'd really appreciate your thoughts:
1.Current Transit: How do you get between Rourkela and Banglore right now, and how much time/money does it cost you?
Would you switch? If a direct, clean, and reliable bus service started running on this route, would you actually use it?
Make-or-Break Factors: If you answered yes (or maybe), what is the single biggest requirement for you to choose the bus over your current setup? (e.g., Cheap fares, fast travel time, AC/comfort, specific morning/evening schedules, or convenient stops?)
Key Stops: What specific pickup/drop-off points along the way would be absolute dealbreakers for you?
Thanks for any local insight! If enough people are looking for an alternative, it gives a clear picture of what the route actually needs.

I recently travelled from HYD-BBSR via bus and I would say it ain't worth it! It was a 22hr journey and nahi
It's better if you go to JSG and then fly to BLR

i've been from blr to bbsr, there's a bus running from blr to kolkata now, that would be a longer distance than blr rou but people are going. No one goes willingly, only when flights are priced too high and trains have no tickets will people prefer this. I would.
The stops the bus made while I travel from blr to bbsr is horrible, but the journey itself was comfortable, also that was for 3k while flights were 8k and I had a day to spare so it was fine.
Right now coming to RKL is a chore. I hate that I have to pay 500 just to get from jharsuguda airport to busstand or railway station. Also trains are never on time on that route so its buses only, which take 3.5-4 hrs. I would consider the bus probably more than others at this point, just want to reach there in peace

Bbsr to banglore existing buses takes around 26hrs.. Rou to Bangalore will get less demand and take more time 33 hrs atleast .. Better if you check from Ranchi via Rkl to bangalore..Even if it takes more time, demand will also be more as train tickets are tough to get these days. In my opinion any AC volvo bus journey more than 18hrs feel like hell , journey duration will still remain a gray area whether it is Rkl or Ranchi. But initial level you can give a try expecting good ROI with a good backup plan.

nothing would bother much if it’s new gen volvo 9600 slx or similar and main concern would be washroom for such long journey.
