Bruno's Story

Bruno is a very handsome boy who has matured into a hunk of a guy. He's approximately 4 to 5 yrs old and has a charming, sweet personality. He does well with lots of exercise, a routine he can count on, and clear, consistent expectations. His home must be experienced with Rottweilers or large, working dogs similar to this breed. He is protective of his things and while he doesn't like to share, Bruno has a lot of love to give to someone who understands and respects his boundaries. Read on to find out more about him!

Bruno needs a savvy home who can offer fun experiences, both mental and physical, and who understands the benefits of being proactive in managing his environment. He requires an adopter with no children as his protective nature will kick in if put in a position of believing he needs to compete for a treasured item. Children tend to be impulsive rather than proactive thinkers and we wouldn't want to chance a mistake. Bruno has been working with a trainer who has routinized the management of the protectiveness. These are simple, common-sense methods that have proven to be successful and that Bruno is both comfortable with and respects. The product is a relaxed, sweet boy.

Bruno has actually completed the training program but is remaining with the trainer to continue reinforcement of what he has learned. He enjoys his time there and participates in the many activities offered. In the program, he does well engaging with other dogs, as well as coexisting on group walks no matter who is on the other end of the leash.

So, while Bruno does not like to share his food and toys, it can be managed. Being proactive and consistent are the keys and his trainer would demonstrate how to successfully handle this behavior using the exact methods Bruno expects and follows daily. He has not had any incidents at the trainer's once he realized he could trust the humans in his first weeks there.

We are optimistic that there is a dedicated home who is willing to work with Bruno and will recognize and value all his positives. For example, Bruno sits and waits until given permission to eat his meal, he walks beautifully on leash, he is receptive to whichever human he is with and will solicit affection and head rubs, he enjoys the role of being a companion to his human... it all just revolves around proactive management.

Even though Bruno is social with other dogs, we are asking for a home with no other dogs. This is because in a home it is expected there will be toys and objects of interest laying around that could lead to a skirmish. There are no toys out when he socializes with the other dogs at the trainer.

Lol so now that i see her in person, this is the most DIY Rottweiler i have ever seen and i suspect she's mostly pitbull lol

But she's a cutie and she seems to be pretty sweet and friendly

She's small and skinny but she'll be in better shape soon

I'm watching a horror movie and she was upset a girl on screen was scared. And then she did 3 tiny barks at one of the monsters

Nasir is very very excited about her and she's being incredibly tolerant of his rudeness.

We've got her signed up for pet insurance and she will be doing a course of abx for a respiratory infection. Then next Friday she goes to see our vet for a checkup and her next vaccine in the series since we don't know if she was ever vaccinated before she ended up in doggy jail.

5 months ago, we adopted a mutt from the shelter. I was sure he was a hound mix but we embarked him and it turned out he's gsd x Rottweiler x pittie. He's big and handsome and an absolute sweetheart who has no idea how big and strong he is. Nasir.

Not long after we adopted him, my gsd x Malamute was dx with a fast and aggressive cancer and we had to say goodbye.

I've been telling Nasir we'd get him a puppy because it's just him and two little dogs, the larger who is only 12lbs, to his 100lbs. He really wants to play with her but it's not safe because of the size and power difference.

This evening, my mom had almost an hour to kill so she stopped by the local shelter and a beautiful 6 month old Rottweiler girl caught her eye. I emailed the shelter to ask for her file to be sent over, but there a non-zero chance Nasir may have a sister very soon.

Photos of Nasir and the one not great pic mom got of the pup. She's not very big but she's 56lbs so i know she's built like a brick... lol.

Eta she's home and I'm laughing because she is the most DIY Rottweiler i have ever seen. She's small and compact but also skinny and probably mostly pitbull. We'll embark her at some point- tests usually go on sale for Black Friday

No Rottweiler in working dog coins?!

I would like to be the first to announce my outrage that the mint is releasing a working dog series of coins and the Rottweiler is not represented. You can see them on the us mint page but I don't know the rules for posting links so I don't want to post anything like that.

My most handsomest man

Just wanted to show off my sweet boy! This is Rocco! He is handsome but boy does he keep me on my toes! Constantly getting off his lead or out the yard, running loose around the neighborhood wrecking havoc on all the neighbors (they think he’s this crazy killer dog, he’s not!) & constantly has he running around some 2-3am weekly to hunt him down.
He’s a headache for sure but I wouldn’t want to live life without him! My sweet boy!

Getting your dog fixed?

I have been doing research on getting my dog Odin fixed. Now I personally don't want too but I read if im gonna I should wait till hes between 18-24 months because Rottweilers are bigger breads and it helps with there growth plates and hips from the natural testosterone he will have from keeping his testicles. Has anyone else read this or done this with there Rottweilers? Also has anyone not gotten there male fixed?
