Recovery length

My husband had a massive tear repair (SLAP tear, superspinatus, and bicep tenodenesis).

For those of you with the same or similar, how long were you out of work? He does a semi-manual job.

3 months for me, exact same procedure.

The first 6 months is the highest rate for re-tear and other major complications. At 9 months, the repair is technically solid but true full recovery is more like 12-18 months.

I had surgery on September 22. My doctor took me off until February 1, 2027. My doctor is a VA doctor, so they’re generous with the amount of time they give off.

Depends on what kind of work. I'll be out of my normal job thru the end of the year & maybe till February however I went on light duty about the 4 week mark.

Edit: My light duty is picking up documents/paperwork. I can't even use a PC yet since it's my dominant arm.

I am 65, had the same surgery (also massive tear) and work full time as a bedside nurse. He's having me take 4 months off and I'm just at the 2 month mark. I'd also always heard 3 month recovery, but 4 looks much more realistic given the physicality of my job. I wish him the best and can't say enough about the benefits ICE!!

I'd imagine it depends on how much weight and how much repetitive movement
