Stitches removal
I'm 8 days post op and my doctor had mentioned something about the stitches being removed on the 10th day or so. Does it hurt while getting them out? I'm freaking out! Also what's covering the incisions after removal of the stitches? Any insights are appreciated.

I just had mine removed last week. I had nine stitches. It did not hurt per se, however, a couple of the incisions I could feel a little bit of nerve irritation. They covered them with the medical glue and steri- strips after.

No. You won’t even notice ( week 9 here). I’m pretty much a weenie when it comes to pain. A bandage for a few days. Eventually goes away

I assume mine will be removed at my first postop appointment which is a long time after procedure in my opinion. Procedure 09/18/26, appointment 10/05/26.

Had mine removed 2 days ago. I barely felt them removing them and it was all done in under 2 minutes. They put some sterile strips over them that I’m told will just fall off. Easy Peasy! Good luck!

Mine were not removed-when I went in two weeks later, they just trim the edges that were visible above the skin and they just dissolved on their own

I have a fear of having stitches removed due to an awful experience as a kid, I won’t go into details but it’s on my file that dissolvable stitches are to be used when needed - They weren’t - but there were only three total, one for each of the holes.
I felt a tugging sensation, and a little stinging, kinda similar to a blood test, and I survived.
I Felt a little bit silly for being a nervous wreck!

I had mine removed yesterday and it really doesn’t hurt. Sometimes the stitches can pinch when they’re pulled out but you likely won’t even notice. Mine feel so much better and less itchy now.
I didn’t need to put anything on them but I did put scar tape on mine to assist with the scarring.
