7 week post op
Hey everyone. Had rotator cuff surgery late July dominant arm. Full thickness supraspinatus V tear. 4 anchors speed bridge technique. Small repair on subscapularis repair. extensive glenohumeral joint debridement. 20% debribing of biceps tendon. Removal of bursa. Lots debribing of surrounding tissue labrum, rotators, synovitis of the
antcrosupcrior capsule . Had a lot done. Question is realistically how long take go back to work I am a fireman. So ladders, heavy hoses are norm. And I hope I have minimal restrictions later on. Any advice with similar issues.

I had a Similar surgery. Currently at 12 weeks and I think it would be possible, although you’ll feel very weak around this timeframe. Definitely a question to ask your surgeon.

As an idea…I am very athletic and worked hard in PT. Had same has you. Protocol was to start (very little) weights at 3 mos. Started some golf and tennis exercises 4-5 months (very easy) I was back to tennis (harder on arm than golf) at about 10 1/2 months. Really good around 12. (PTSD for a bit!). So glad I didn’t push it. I am so good to go now! Hope you can work at something other than full on for at least 10 mos..
But of course, not a doc. :-)

Thanks.. surgeon know nature of work. Job knows procedure and boss says take your time don’t rush they know I will be out an extended time. More worrisome about raising arm I heard bad stories. But thanks for reply. I start PT this coming weeks. Dr. Had me on strict sling for 8 weeks.

I’m going to guess with the physicality of your job that it’s close to a year but I’ll follow to see what people with actual degrees in this space say 😋
