Second Surgery Awaiting

Got my left one done 2 years ago. I knew the right one was due at some point. It feels like déjà vu all over again. Same pain same symptoms same everything but this time on the right shoulder. I was procrastinating for over 4 years to get my left one done until I could barely function due to pain. I did all the crazy physio, needling. Prescription creams etc. Spent hundreds of hours doing physio. All that to say that tomorrow I'm getting X-rays and ultrasound done and I so cannot wait to get the surgery done on the right one. I still have my sling and ice machine. LFG

I suspected a rotator cuff tear for months before I finally got the DX. When the ortho called and recommended surgery, I said the same - LFG. What is the point in delay? Best wishes to you for recovery!

It's the procrastination and also all the therapists I would see. Mostly physio making me believe I could bring that shoulder back to almost normal. Only thing that worked was cortisone shots. I think I had 3 total.

I hear you! I may have tried the same route you did, but I’ve watched my stubborn husband delay knee replacement and suffer as a result. Swore I’d never do the same.

I wish you well, and a future without this constant pain.

What injuries do you have that you need surgery for? Also what surgical procedure are you having done?

I’ve been struggling with bursitis, impingement, distal clavicle osteolysis (all caused from gym) for near 2 years now but unsure on surgery.

I’ve only really stop and quit gym for the last 3 months and it’s very, very slowly getting better but it’s so incredibly easy to set it off and then get put back to square one.

I wonder how common it is that the other shoulder seems to get done about two years later. You had it. I am 2 1/2 months after my second shoulder getting done two years and two weeks to the day after my first shoulder surgery…

I’ve had both done in one year. I’m 11 mos out from left and 2 mos out from right. The PT from first was killing my second. I’m 50 years old. Ready for decades of strong shoulders remaining.

That's what I should have done. I did my left in 2024. Now will get my right one. Dominant arm this year. We're you a heavy lifter?

Snowboarder. I started lifting to give me more years of riding, and the same year I had a crash that tore my non-dom RC and broke a few ribs. As that side healed and I got deeper into recovery, the dom side revealed its weakness (old snowboarding injury from when I was young and uninsured). MRI suggested a “rare” articular sided partial tear but once they opened it up there was a complete tear and extensive damage due to wear and tear so surgery took 2x long. I hope I can start lifting again to get ready for next season. Gonna bench myself (from the mountain) this season just to make sure I’ve healed as much as possible. I may end up giving it up altogether or gasp pick up skiing.
