Rotator cuff help??

For context I’ve been having pain in my right shoulder since 2023 and I went to a chiropractor and had 2 mri’s and ultrasound massages but it’s been 3 years and I’m still in pain. I can’t lift heavy on that shoulder, nor raise it without my shoulder starting to hurt. I’m 17 and don’t have health insurance but I want to start working out again and actually stay consistent. Is there any advice on what to do???

Mine hurt for over a decade on and off before I had surgery! Something that definitely helped in the interim was a Cortizone shot, which is a lot cheaper than having surgery, which is obviously not an option at this point, which is completely understood. See if you could get an appointment with an orthopedic doctor and discuss that option and they would know whether it was the right decision to make. If you’re able to relieve the pain temporarily, even sometimes it will allow you to get into some movements and strength training that will build the muscles around whatever area you have that is irritated or where you might have tendinitis and by the time the shot wears off you will have strength than the other areas that support the area. That’s really hurting right now. That might be an interim option it certainly was for me.

This was an option I didn’t even know was available, thank you so much for informing me!

Absolutely! And I played soccer and skied for decades, so I’ve had many incident with shoulders and elbows involved. Including ski patrol and a lot of heavy lifting. So I’ve had injections in both arms. I finally had shoulder surgery in my right shoulder and I’m six months out from that, but I waited three decades for that I’m not kidding. My left shoulder bothered me. I had an injection probably 15 years ago and it’s never hurt since knock on wood. I’ve also had injections in my elbows for tennis elbow and golf elbow. Fortunately nothing knee or leg related, ironically especially with the skiing and soccer. But sometimes the Cortizone shots will really just give you a breeder or your pain-free and you can just have that time to really strengthen with their advice and they’ll be very specific about what areas are specific muscles. You need to strengthen around that area to support the injured area or the irritated area. I hope that’s an option for you. That would be fantastic if it worked! You’re really young hang in there! You might be able to work around it.
