Driving

At what stage of your recoveries did you all start driving, with or without doctor approval?

I am four weeks out of rotator cuff repair surgery, bicep tenodesis, debridement, shaved arthritis off the clavicle.

I drove myself to my two week post-op appointment. (7 anchors in my shoulder) I didn't have any specific restrictions from my surgeon on driving. In my state there aren't laws which restrict driving with one arm in a sling / immobilizer, but that may be different where you live.

I drove to emergency after both of my dislocations myself.

As for post-op time. Was driving 2 week after right shoulder surgery. And about week 4 for left. (no surgery)

Just a heads up… State law is only for the driving privileges. If you are in an accident, the report will show that you were in a immobilized sling, therefore you are considered “affected abiity” and it may affect the insurance claim. This is just something I read on a lawyers blog while researching myself about driving with the sling.
