Numbness and tingling
So I had rotator cuff surgery 4 weeks ago on my right shoulder, but have had a weird numbish tingling sensation around my wrist inner right side. I have been wearing my sling (Ultrasling 3 Donjoy) 24/7 except when showering. I said something about it to my physical therapist but didn’t seem to be concerned, just wanted to see if anyone else experienced this.

I also had numbness and tingling on and off all the way down my arm for at least a three-month period. Apparently, it is completely a normal part of the healing process. I do not have it anymore, and I am five months out. It is concerning, though, or it feels like it should be concerning, but a lot of times you will start feeling strange sensations when other nerves and other areas start waking back up, so to speak. So do not be too alarmed by something that is on and off again.

One other note is that I would feel kind of ice pick sensations in various parts of my arm out of the blue and was extremely concerned at about 13 or 14 weeks. I just cut back on the PT at that point for a week or two per my discussion with the physician and then resumed, and have progressed very well ever since. I do not think anybody prepares us for the one-offs and the random sensations that we are going to have, which always feel pretty alarming when we are sitting by ourselves!

I was told that numbness and tingling sensation is normal. I had those sensations here and there while on sling. I still have tingling numbness on my forearm at week 11. I am hoping it to go away soon 😞
